Hangover: 6/17 – 6/24
Over the last few months, I spent some time compiling weekly lists of the top BMX videos to drop for Network A. It was a good opportunity for me to go back and review all of the videos that dropped each week.
I’m not sure if you are aware of it, but the Daily Section gets updated a few times a day which generally ends up being around 30 new posts with the latest videos, products, news and what not every single day. In a given week, there are around 210 new posts (probably a lot more than that actually) which means one thing… A lot of really good videos get missed since I highly doubt you are spending as much time as I am going through all the new stuff popping up. I hope not at least.
Since the job with Network A ended (two months longer than originally planned), I’ve been thinking it would be cool to do a recap of my own each week to give some shine to the videos that turned out awesome and were quickly buried under all the new posts. So, here we have it. The first round of Hangover, a look back at the wild party we call a week. This should become the new Sunday tradition, so let’s give this a go!

Through The Lens: 5 Tips For Better Composition
Composition is “the act of combining parts or elements to form a whole.” When it comes to photography it is an integral part of any photograph. The difference between a good photo and an amazing photo is all in the way you compose the image. You can take two photos with identical subject matter and lighting but the one with the best composition will always be more appealing to the masses. With BMX photography specifically it helps to pay close attention to the entire photo as opposed to simply worrying about the rider themselves. There is much more of a story to be told with each and every photo if shot correctly. Lets break it down and find out more about what it takes to compose a shot that will stand out from the rest.

Barceroma
This is what I call making the best of the situation!
“In January Teddy Lewis, Rob Loeber, and I booked our flights for a 10 day vacation to Barcelona to ride bikes and drink sangria. Everything was going perfectly smooth until about 15 minutes before we were meant to board the plane there. Our flight had been cancelled because air traffic controllers in France had gone on strike. We soon found out there were no more flights available to anywhere in Spain until nearly a week later but luckily the girl at the desk was super helpful and after a lot of searching, we found ourselves on a flight to Rome, Italy the next morning.
The first day riding around the city was pretty disheartening. We rode for a few hours and didn’t find a single thing to ride. All of the buildings in the city centre have massive gates outside of them that go directly up to the sidewalk. Back at the hostel we did some Internet research and found a skatepark online. We figured that maybe there would be some riders there so we conned our way onto the Metro and out into the suburbs.
It was one of the best decisions of the trip. There were no riders there but the park was incredibly fun and we quickly discovered that all of the spots were going to be hidden outside of the city. Everyday after coffee and wifi we headed out in a new direction and everyday we found something that had never been riden before and a new joint to grab a slice from.
While Barcelona would have been amazing, I have to say that our surprise adventure ended up being an incredible success. It’s hard for things to go wrong when your holiday consists of BMX, pizza, coffee, pizza, beer, pizza, untouched spots, pizza, incredible friends, and pizza though.

Chris Saunders is one of those names that, if you have kept up with the BMX game over the years, you probably have seen pop up a few times from the east coast scene between his riding, photos or videos. Chris is one of those riders turned photographer and film maker with the help of BMX to get things really rolling for himself. I recently came across his portfolio and really liked what I saw. I figured it would be rad to find out a little bit more about how he turned something he liked doing for fun into a profession. So let’s get into this and find out more about the man! After you do that, check out his full PHOTOGALLERY!

Red Bull – Metro Pipe – Day 1 Highlights
Here’s a look at what went down during the first day of Red Bull‘s Metro Pipe in Madrid, Spain. Looking at the drawings and everything before aren’t nearly as wild as what the setup actually looks like done. This is pretty damn wild if I may say. Hopefully some more footage pops up later today or tomorrow.
