Lexus Made a Hoverboard

August 5, 2015

No, this doesn’t have to do with BMX, but this is damn amazing. Lexus have created a hoverboard and dropped this video to prove it! Watch as these guys cruise… Well, attempt to cruise, one hell of a skatepark to test out this crazy piece of technology. Below is a little more information on how it works, but we suggest you check out the Lexus Hoverboard website to really learn how it works! About damn time we got hover boards… Now, where’s my jetpack?

“We’ve made the impossible, possible: The Lexus Hoverboard is here.
Visit http://amazinginmotion.com/slide to experience the entire journey, as Lexus demonstrates the desire to create enjoyment out of motion.

The Lexus Hoverboard represents true innovation and imagination, together pushing the boundaries of technology even further.”

“TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED
The hoverboard is constructed from an insulated core, containing HTSLs (high temperature superconducting blocks). These are housed in cryostats – reservoirs of liquid nitrogen that cool the superconductors to -197°C. The board is then placed above a track containing permanent magnets. When the board is cooled to its operating temperature the track’s magnetic flux lines are ‘pinned’ into place, maintaining the hover height of the board.

Skateboards & Dirt Jumps

May 10, 2014

I just saw this over on Freedom BMX of a video Skateboard Magazine dropped. Although I feel like I have seen this before, it is well worth a revisit because I’m sure a bunch of you haven’t seen this yet. Check out a bunch of skateboarders… riding trails. Pretty rad, but I hope they picked up a shovel and fixed things up once they were done.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Bob Burnquist’s “Dreamland” Epic

August 26, 2013

There isn’t a second a BMX in this, and I’m not one of these guys that is on skateboardings nuts at all, but this is amazing. It’s all impressive, but if your tolerance for this stuff isn’t long, skip in a few minutes to get the craziest stuff. I’d love to see a BMX rider hit these set ups that Bob makes in this.

Skaters Report BMX Riders in Barcelona?

May 16, 2013

Spotted this on TCU and my mind is honestly blown. In this video, that a pretty prominent Skateboarding Youtube channel released, a few skaters getting ready for X-Games Barcelona have a hissy shitting fit about our dude Roy Van Kempen and a few others riding a spot they happened to be at too. They go as far as reporting them to the security to get them to leave which in my honest opinion just dropped the respect bar for skaters pretty damn low. I really thought the skater and BMX beef wasn’t really existent, but I guess I was way wrong. What do you think?

As a side note: Shout out to Roy for keeping his cool. I wish Shad Johnson was around to show these guys what happens when you do shit like this.

Dirt Boarding?

December 3, 2012

Can You Dig It posted this up and I kind of slept on it not realizing what it was actually about. Looks like skateboarding is finally getting into the woods, haha.

“Day In The Dirt: featuring Caswell Berry, David Gravette and Ben Raemers

While this past summer was winding down, we packed up the van and went roadtrippin¹ through the Northwest. The crew was tight: Mark Appleyard, Aaron Suski, Caswell Berry, David Gravette and Ben Raemers along with Portland locals Jeff Halstad shooting the video and Garric Ray snapping photos. With minimal requirements in our itinerary, we were free to roam the streets and parks of the Northwest in search of epic terrain. Throughout the trip, Garric kept talking about a park with massive dirt jumps nestled in the woods of Portland, Oregon that bikers had built years ago. Over time the dirt had packed to nearly ride-able terrain. He was insisting we give it a look and Gravette chimed in backing the idea, so once we made it to ole PDX we went and checked it out. Once we pulled up, we saw what the fuss was all about. Had I picked up a bike in my youth, this place would have been a dream! What followed was an intense session where Caswell, Gravette and Benny Boy tested the limits of what we thought possible on these dirt jumps. Gravette having some recent injuries was unable to skate to his full potential and, not wanting to miss out on the fun, got up and hucked a few jumps on a local kids bike to wrap up the session. Overall, it was a great experience with a good crew good vibes and we left unscathed(nearly).” – Volcom

Props – Film Boards – The Art of Rolling Capture

March 25, 2011

I could have swore I posted this yesterday, but apparently I didn’t. Props got in touch with Will Stroud, Stew Johnson, Ryan Navazio, Terrell Gordy, Michael McQueen, Jim Cielencki and Tony Ennis to talk about their skateboard setups for filming. It’s pretty interesting for those of you who are into filming. Check that out by hitting this LINK.
