Rest In Peace, Tony Mortenson

May 26, 2019

It’s never easy getting word about a rider that has passed away. We just found out that Tony Mortenson has passed away. Many of you will remember Tony from the Baco 10 video, which Props uploaded when they heard the news. Tony was an absolute shredder from Minnesota and a real good guy. We’re not sure what happened, but it’s definitely hard to hear he is gone. Rest In Peace, Tony. You were a hell of a guy on and off the bike and you won’t be forgotten.

“Tony’s Baco 10 section, circa 2004. RIP.” – Props

I’m sure as time goes on, there’s more and more names that the new kids just don’t remember or know about. One guy, who’s a legend in the Minnesota scene and in the BACO days, Tony Mortenson, may be one of those guys. A few years back we did an interview to catch up with him and he was living a completely different life from today. Last year, Tony took a real bad crash that landed him in the hospital holding on for his life. Luckily, things worked out and he’s still with us here today, riding and enjoying life. I figured it would be cool to catch up with him and find out how the accident changed his life and what he’s up to these days. Let’s take a look.. This one turned out real interesting.

Name: Anthony Kay Mortenson

Tony Mortenson Recovery Jam Flyer

Tony Mortenson Recovery Jam BMX

These past few days have been better for Tony. He has been showing a ton of signs of improvement and should be getting out of the hospital this weekend. Todd Johnson and a few others have been busy getting things lined up for the benefit jam we are having on July 31st. Above is the flyer. I’d like to thank the sponsors Full Factory, Deco, Kink, Sparky’s, Last Call, and Eastern for stepping up to help out with prizes for the raffle and what not. If you cannot make it to the jam but want to help Tony out, you can donate via Paypal – TonyMortensonRecovery@Gmail.com is the account name. Anything you can do is greatly appreciated. Please remember to keep Tony in your thoughts and see you July 31st!
