The crew at Flybikes have been working on a modern version of their popular CNC brakes from back in the day. The new Manual CNC Brakes and Lever are available now, so we figured it would be a good idea to take a closer look at these brakes that come in two versions; Classic and Springhanger, and two colors.

Manual CNC Brakes

The Manual CNC brakes are a refined and updated version of their popular CNC brakes back in the day, now with a few tweaks to clean up the look of the arms, make them stiffer and give you clearance for massive 2.50″ tires. The Classic version comes with thicker brass bushings for longer life and features the AKO “Allen Key Only” spring plates and adjustable A-hanger that has a barrel adjuster to allow for micro adjustments. The Springhanger version comes with an upgraded Springhanger spring with a flat shape on the straight arms for a stiffer performance and anti-wobble adjustment knobs on the pivot points that eliminates brake-wobble. The arms are compatible with either system, so you can run the Classic springs or switch things up to the Springhanger version if you wanted to try that out as well.

Flybikes Manual CNC Brakes – Springhanger

The Springhanger version utilizes an oversized spring as the bridge cable that controls the tension in the arms, eliminating springs on the pivot points like traditional brakes. The Springhanger brakes utilize anti-wobble adjustment knobs to ensure your brakes are tight and smooth.

The Classic version utilizes traditional springs that tension the brake arms on the brake mounts, allowing more adjustment to your preferred amount of tension. These brakes also come with the A-Hanger that has a barrel adjuster to allow for micro adjustments on the arms distance to the rim.

The arms are compatible with both versions, so you could switch between systems if you had the parts needed.

Manual CNC Brake Lever

The Manual CNC Brake Lever also looks similar to the original lever that Flybikes released years ago, but they’ve gone in to give it some added detail and smoother edges in the critical areas where your fingers or hand could come in contact. They’ve also upgraded the lever to use stronger IGUS bushing that completely remove the lever wobble that some levers tend to get, especially once they’ve worn in a bit.
