This past week was what we would call “busy”. There were A LOT of new videos, news, products and what not popping up in the Daily section. Going through all the pages, I honestly didn’t remember all the awesome videos that managed to get buried in the mess of posts. So, let’s take a look at 15 or so of the videos that you definitely would have wanted to see this week if you didn’t check things out much, or the ones you really want to watch again.
More BMX Videos
I’m going to kick this off with one of my personal favorite edits from the week. For those of you who don’t know, Rich Forne is definitely one of the best BMX film makers around right now. His edits that he produces (here are a few examples) are always so quality and on point that it’s impossible not to be caught up watching them over and over again. Then, the other day this edit dropped on the DIG website and I was thinking it would be some sort of highlight reel of his work… No, it was in fact, a video of him absolutely killing it on his bike. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t know he was as good as he is and now I’m stuck here wishing he got in front of the camera more. Let’s hope that wish gets granted.
I opened with this one this week because next to Rich’s edit, this came in a very close second. Hell, I’m just going to put it at an even tie. I’ll be the first to admit I’m a huge Bobbie Altiser fan. There are so few riders that run front brakes and a freecoaster with the approach on riding like Bobbie has, and it’s honestly a bummer. At the same time though, any time a fresh video pops up for him, you know it’s going to be awesome. This new video that Cooper Brownlee put together for Colony has so many unique clips, it’s hard not to want to go back and check it out over and over again. It’s a bummer Cooper lost his fisheye during filming, but I think even he knows that’s just part of the game.
One of the things I get really stoked about when it comes to Verde, is that everything they do comes with a really high quality image from the products to the videos. The video side of things are easy enough to explain and understand because let’s face it, they have a hell of a team and it’s not that hard to make a good video with talented riders. They also have one of the best and most respected film makers in BMX as their staff filmer, Will Stroud.
Recently, Tony Neyer, Dave Thompson, Drew York and Ryan “Biz” Jordan loaded up in a van with Will and Cory Muth for a trip to the East coast to see what spots they could come across. This video was what came from the trip and even before hitting play I knew it wouldn’t be disappointing. So if you haven’t seen the video yet, or you are checking it out again, I’ll give the guarantee that you won’t be let down. All the guys threw down and Will did a phenomenal job as expected.
The way I like to sum up Ben Hennon’s riding is to say it’s powerful and he’s definitely a beast. There’s no doubt that he’s got plenty of fire on whatever is put in front of him. The other day we were graced with his latest video for Chain Reaction that I think clearly proves my perspective on his riding. Ben also teamed up with Alex Baret from Green Films to handle the filming and editing, and Alex has a real good track record with me as far as the quality he produces from his work. This one is all around awesome and it’s clearly deserving of a second look. I’m hoping to see some more footage from Ben soon.
Ah, the anticipated Kyle Baldock edit for Total BMX. If there’s one thing that makes sense it’s that both Kyle and Total BMX tend to get pretty wild. Kyle has this gymnastics style that leads to so many bangers, and the Total BMX team in general is stacked with guys who can get very technical and drop some big moves, so it’s clear why the are together. So when I heard Kyle had a new edit for Total BMX dropping, I pretty much set the bar high with an expectation of insane riding. The video was filmed by Bret Trigg who did a great job working with what Kyle was able to throw down for him. The bar was set high and some how Kyle managed to jump over that pretty easy with this one. If you like wild riding, this one is for you.
All right, there’s no way I could skip this one. A few days before X-Games started, this video of Chad Kerley getting a session in front of his house popped up. The thing that’s funny is he calls it “X-Games training” which is probably how much “training” he actually needed to get second place in street this weekend. This video ended up with 25,000 views in just a couple days for obvious reasons. It’s amazing what he can do with just a few curbs. It’s also hard to hate the kid, and I get stoked on everything that comes from him. If you missed this one this week, I highly suggest you take a peek.
Shane Weston’s signature grips from Eclat dropped recently, so it makes sense they would want to do something to get the word out that people are stoked on. Shane decided to put his Nashville neighbor, Nathan Williams, to work behind the lens for this new promo video that did just the trick. Shane’s freecoasting tricks and ability to drop cannonball bunnyhops are definitely something you always want to see, so this is one of those must see videos from the week for sure.
There have been a few of these helicopter edits dropping the past year and I think this is one of my favorite ones yet. In this one, Kyle Davenport spends some time cruising a set of trails with the helicopter camera cruising along with him. The shots turned out really good and I think it lead to a real good video overall. I wonder if more people will be getting into this helicopter stuff in the future?
I’ll be honest when Corey Bohan’s show from Red Bull originally dropped, I didn’t think they would be able to come up with enough interesting content to fill a 10 minute video every other week consistently. This would be the 5th edit that has proven that Corey Bohan’s life is not only really interesting and constantly on the move, but it also continues to make me wish I lived a life half as exciting as his. This time around we get a look at his family life back in Australia and then what he got into during the Empire of Dirt that went down recently as well. So good.
Over the last few months, Nick Bullen has been on my radar from all the split edits that he had been killing it in with Cory Wiergowski. I knew Cory was getting some attention and in fact, he recently got picked up by Sunday. I was starting to wonder how long it would take before Nick got himself a sponsor. It didn’t take too long since it was announced in this video that he had joined the Subrosa Skeleton Crew. I think this video makes it real clear why he got picked up and I’m definitely into the filming and editing for this one as well.

Over the last few years, DUB has clearly grown from a group of friends to a full blown brand that knows how to get things done right. Each year the DUB jams have grown in numbers from the number of jams to the huge number of riders that turn out for them. This summer they have a couple jams planned with the help of Monster and Liverpool was the first on the list. This video that Ride UK produced from the day makes it real clear that the scene in the U.K is growing and progressing so fast. That and it looks like it was in general a hell of a good time. I need to go to one of these.
A while back a trailer for the Alone team trip in France popped up and I remember being real excited about it since it looked good. After some time past, it slipped my mind and I completely forgot about it. Then the other day this video featuring James Hitchcox, Joshua Wyles, Sean Pointing, Kevin Sparrow, Eisa Bakos and Isaac Lesser finally dropped. The video ended up being all I could hope for and the team clearly found plenty to ride during their time together. Also, Sean Pointing handled the majority of the filming and the editing which I’m always really stoked on. He’s got a clean, but kind of crazy style to his work and I think that’s what really helped make this edit stand out to me.
I think I could get away with just saying this Drew Hosselton edit for Volume is awesome. There’s something about Drew’s riding that just makes him unique, and that’s his ability to ride what most of us wouldn’t even think of riding. This whole video is seriously crazy and unique spot after crazy and unique spot with some real good riding. I don’t know how he does the things he does, but damn am I glad he does them. Oh, and not to mention Mike Mastroni took care of the filming and editing and we all know he’s got a gift when it comes to that department for sure.
It was only a matter of time before Alex Vazquez found himself on Amity Bike Co.‘s team. I had a feeling it was going to happen just because how good he is, and how tight he is with Jeff Wescott. This welcome edit to bring the news has more roof gaps and drops and crank flips than any other edit in recent memory and that’s what makes it so good. Jeff Wescott also took care of the filming and editing which was real solid and clean like he normally cooks up. Overall, I’m stoked for Alex and I’m looking forward to seeing what this opportunity does for him.
If there’s one thing I could never get sick of, it’s style. Mike Miller is definitely all about style and this edit for Carhartt is nothing short of awesome. The tricks are all clean and clicked and Dominik Wrobel worked his magic as always to produce a smooth and high quality edit to go with the riding. I honestly need to more footage from Mike since there just isn’t enough of it going around these days.
And last but not least, Dean Cueson’s welcome back to Radio Bikes edit. Some of you may remember, Dean left the team a few months back to pursue some other opportunities that I’d imagine didn’t pan out as planned. Either way, he’s back and because of that, this new video loaded with some damn good riding came from it. Will Evans, whose work I’m a big fan of, did a damn fine job of filming and editing the video too.
All right, so that wraps up this weeks look back at all the rad videos that dropped. Check back next Sunday for another edition from what’s to come this week. Until then, check out more of the Originals or hit the Daily section for all of the latest videos, news, products and more!
