Interbike 2012: Odyssey

September 19, 2012

I caught up with Nuno from Odyssey to see what they had going on these days. I was pleasantly surprised with a bunch of NEW stuff that I didn’t even know or expect to see. Let’s take a peek!

Tom Dugan will have a signature stem coming through real soon. Yeah, that’s right. It will be a front load stem with the traditional 2 bolts in the back. This will come in two versions; 45mm reach and a 53mm reach. It has internal machining to save some weight and a recessed top for a flush look with your fork.

Oh shit… That’s right. Sean Sexton will have a signature stem as well. This topload stem has a similar look as Tom Dugan’s but comes in 48mm reach only. Boom.

Photobucket

They will still offer the Elementry, Lincoln and Tomahawk stems as well!

The new Springfield brakes. These are a basic brake that Odyssey has out that retails for under $20. It is simple to instal and if you noticed in the photo they are spring loaded with a spring that is between the arms. I should also mention the arms are identical so all you have to do is flip one or the other and you have the opposite. Pretty rad. They also feature the new Ghost brake pads. These pads are directional and will also be sold individually. Real easy to install.

Here’s their new lever I’m blanking on the name with. This is similar to the brakes, designed to be effective and low cost. They feature a hinge design that makes it easy to instal and clamps tight. Real clean.

Mike Aitken’s new signature grips!

Here’s a look at the new Antigram hub. This is designed to be a slimmed down version of the G-Sport Ratchet hub that has been out for a few years now. It features a reversible cassette so you can run this as left or right side drive. All you gotta do is flip the pawls.

They didn’t have it on display, but it was in the poster. The new Quartet hub which is an updated version of the classic cassette they’ve had available forever.

The new two tone Aaron Ross keyboard grips!

Bars on bars. Oh, Eric Lichtenberger’s new signature bars! Beast.

They’ve also got some Lumberjack XL bars coming out. These will feature a 9″ rise. Biggens.

Holy shit… Chrome Odyssey forks? I can’t tell you what made them finally release a chrome fork but if they are willing to back it with a lifetime warranty then they must have done something with it to maintain it’s strength.

How good does that Midnight blue and silver look? Both colors are out now if I remember right.

Chase Hawk’s signature tire comes in two versions and so far I’ve been hearing good things about it. Not sure if the will give you as much style as Chase, but your bike will look like his…

EDIT: We’ve got two more products!

Here’s a look at the new Keychain which you can find out more about RIGHT HERE! There’s more to this than you might think.

They have a addition to the Quic Slik cable. Since it’s hard to get a perfect brake setup with the whole one piece bridge cable and cable setup that Quic Slik uses, they will be doing another version that allows you to choose between 3 different sizes. You just slide the metal bridge up or down a notch. This should allow for 90% of brake setups to work with their Quic Slik cables now. These are in production now so maybe two months before these are in shops. Maybe sooner!

So that wraps up the Odyssey booth. Obviously they’ve got a few new items coming along to get excited about and as always they look real good.
