Yep… My phone isn’t smart. I know.
Living in the U.S generally always gives me access to some of the best of the best from around the world. It’s a location that riders from all over the world travel to, the bigger events are usually here, most of the magazines and not to mention some of the best trails, parks and street in the world. There are things we do miss out on though. One of those things would be Cooper Brownlee’s magazine, Focalpoint. This magazine is published and distributed for free to 100 shops around Australia every three months with the rest of the world having to wait a month for it to come online to check out…
I’ve been a big fan of Cooper’s work for a few years now, and until the other day, I had never been able to physically check out an issue of Focalpoint. If you have been checking this site for a while, you may have noticed that I’m a big print fan. The quality and content is always something that gets me. Plus, anything that gives me a break from the internet is usually a good thing too. Now, I knew the quality of the magazine was solid from the online versions that are released after the print version has made its rounds.. Here’s issue 23 that’s now online..
But seeing something online generally is quite a bit different than actual print. The quality of print is just… better. Flipping through the issue, I was impressed with some real good photos from a few of the guys I’ve had the chance to get to know through this site like Cooper, James Wade, Pete Jaques and more. There’s some features with Mike Vockenson and Kym Grosser along with photos and words from the Animal and Skavenger trip to Australia. That’s just some of the features too.
The magazine may be tightly based around the Australian scene, but if you are a fan of print, good photos, clean design and something different than what you are typically reading, I’d suggest you check out Focalpoint. I believe all you pay is shipping which is a real good deal. If not, you will always be able to check it out online later. I’d like to give Cooper a shout out for sending over a copy, but more importantly, for putting in a ton of time to produce something as quality as this. Hell yeah.
Get over to FOCALPOINTBMX.COM and take a look around. Check out some of the older issues. You won’t be disappointed!
