With The Union Winter Session coming up in a little over a week, we have been receiving a bunch of packages from the sponsors for the jam with product to give away! We have received a bunch of goodies and figured it would be a good idea to give you guys a look at some of the prizes and and just a better look at a few dialed products! So, to start things off, we will take a closer look at Dan Foley’s signature Cadence frame from Wethepeople! We got a closer look at Dan’s personal setup that he’s running these days in his BIKE CHECK we dropped last week, so it’s a good time to check out the frame as well! So, let’s do this!
Gussets on the top and down tubes with embossed “WTP” logos.
Let’s start this off by talking about the specs and details! The Cadence frame is made from butted and seamless 4130 Japanese chromoly tubing with a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.5″ bottom bracket height, 9″ stand over height and 13.5″ chain stay length. The frame features a CNC machined and heat-treated integrated head tube with drilled and tapped gyro tabs, gussets on the top and down tubes with WTP logos, a single-butted top tube with an extra gusset that runs the length of it on the bottom for integrated cable guides and strength, a Mid bottom bracket, an Integrated seat post clamp, ovalized tubing at the chain stay that tapers and rounds off toward the drop outs with plenty of room for 2.40″ tires, bullet ends at the drop outs, 6mm thick heat-treated, CNC machined drop outs with an integrated chain tensioner and removable brake mounts on the seat stays.
The Cadence frame is available in top tube lengths of 20.5″ and 21″ with a weight of 5.4 lbs. (2.4kg) and comes in colors of black Titan, gloss black, Dark blue and translucent green.
Dan gave us some information about the dimensions and special features he chose for his frame in his BIKE CHECK…
“WTP listened to every little detail I told them I wanted in a frame and I couldn’t be more psyched with how it came out. A lot of street-oriented frames coming out these days tend to have super short back ends and steep head tubes, which works well for nibbly tech stuff, but feels a bit unstable on ramps or trails. I love doing nibbly street stuff, yet also love cruising skateparks and trails so I wanted something that felt good for all of that. It’s got a 75 degree head tube that’s neither too steep or mellow and a 13.6” (centered) back end that’s neither too long or short. The bottom bracket is pretty low at 11.5”, which gives it a stable and consistent feel on everything. It also has a high 9” stand over height to give it a more classic look. I told WTP I wanted the frame to look as simple and clean as possible, so they came up with the minimalistic seatstay/chainstay bridges and the curved-off ends of the seatstay/chainstay tubing. I love it.”
Headtube and seat tube graphics.
Integrated seat post clamp, Mid bottom bracket, a butted top tube with a gusset that runs the length of the tubing on the bottom, and ovalized chain stays to help resist denting and give extra tire clearance.
Bullet ends on the seat and chain stays, 6mm thick heat-treated and CNC machined 14mm drop outs with threads for integrated chain tensioners.
A unique seat stay bridge that tapers on the ends for increased strength.
The tubing at the chain stay bridge is ovalized to help resist denting and increase tire clearance. You will have no problem fitting a 2.40″ tire. This tubing tapers and becomes round toward that drop outs.
Integrated seat stay brake mounts for those of you looking to run brakes on this frame!
It’s kind of hard to see, but the bottom of the top tube features a gusset that runs the length of the tubing that allows for drilled and tapped removable brake mounts versus welded on. It also makes the top tube more rigid.
That about wraps up Dan Foley’s signature Cadence frame from Wethepeople. This frame is available worldwide through all shops and mail-orders that carry Wethepeople now! The frame retails for about $374.99, comes in 20.5″ and 21″ top tube lengths and colors of black Titan, gloss black, Dark blue and translucent green.
DON’T FORGET WE WILL BE GIVING THIS FRAME AWAY AT THE UNION WINTER SESSION ON FEBRUARY 14th!
