Have you been checking out some of the electric bikes and wishing there would be a BMX version? Well, some of you might remember last year we posted up news about a prototype electric BMX bike that Eric Klinefelter was working on. After a lot of work, it looks like he was finally able to release the bike, the Cliftn Motors Boot electric BMX bike, that takes a 26″ cruiser and throws some juice behind it to make it a bike you can cruise around on with some speed! The bike is currently available exclusively through ALBES BMX for $3,395.95. Spendy, but they also plan on having kits available so you could build your own for cheaper! Check out more photos and details on the bike right here! The full press release and specs can be found below as well.
“CLIFTN Motors, LLC. is proud to introduce its first BMX-inspired electric bike, \boot. The CLIFTN \boot offers customers a unique experience, combining the delight of the BMX experience with the utility of an electric bike. This combination of features enables riders to commute around town with ease without sacrificing the ability to hit a gap or rip a manual. With electric bike sales on the rise, CLIFTN’s \boot caters to a wide-range of users with the speed and serviceability of its Bosch, mid-drive pedal-assist motor.
“As commuters begin to look for a more sustainable and cost-effective way to get around town, they also want their mode of transportation to match their riding-style,” said Eric Klinefelter, founder of CLIFTN Motors. “Unfortunately, there have not been many options for riders wanting more aggressive geometry. That’s why I founded CLIFTN, I wanted an electric bike that would ride just like my regular bike, except with a boost.”
CLIFTN has crafted a simple and clean design that provides a variety of pedal assist modes, allowing users to ride up to 28 miles per hour. Its Chromoly 4130 Steel frame, wide 2.3” tires, and down-tube mounted battery maintain a low center of gravity, making \boot ideal for urban environments. Riders can quickly transition to high-speeds with the super smooth torque-based pedal assist. \boot’s Bosch motor means its electronics can be easily serviced at pretty much any Bosch certified bike shop. The CLIFTN \boot keeps it classic with a solid black frame and assembled parts. Plus, its 26” frame is compatible with standard BMX components to cater towards riders’ individual preferences.
CLIFTN currently has limited stock available to purchase through Albe’s BMX Shop, where the \boot is selling for just under $3,400. To accommodate custom builds and a lower price-point, we will also offer a frame kit, which will include the frame, Bosch motor, electronics, and crank-set. The Cliftn \boot is designed for assembled in the USA.
