Codie Larsen Bike Check

All photos by Jason Finn

Codie is one of those dudes from the Northwest that has really stood out to me the last year or two. He has consistantly popped up in videos and is always bringing some damn good riding to the mix. Codie recently started getting flow from Primo so we figured it would be a good time to check out his dialed new setup along with catch up to find out what else is new with the guy. Check out his unit and what he had to say!

What’s the newest part on your bike?
Newest part I got is probably all the Primo stuff im riding. Got it all at the same time about a month ago.

What’s the oldest?
Oldest is probably the frame, Got it beginning of summer.

What do you usually go through the fastest?
Plastic pedals for sure.

Do you have to have your bike setup a certain way to feel comfortable or can you pretty much ride whatever?
Chain tight, tire pressure at about 65-70 and everything tight.

Do you ever change your setup much or is it pretty consistent?
Pretty consistent, I usually just change my stuff whenever I break something.

How often do you build up a fresh bike?
Ehh, I ususally just ride the stuff till it bends or breaks. Or if my bike starts to look real haggard, then I’ll get new parts.

How are things going with Wethepeople? Do you have any trips, filming projects or anything coming up that you are getting stoked for?
Things are all right. Nothing that I know of, at the moment. The dudes at WTP are always coming up with cool trip ideas so I imagine well be doing some type of trip soon.

So you started getting flow from Primo recently. How did that all come about? Do you have anything in the works with them yet? When can we expect a welcome edit?
Yeah, I’m stoked on it! Shawn Mcintosh mentioned my name to the new boss man John at Tipplus and he was down to hook me up so it worked out. I’ve always been psyched on Primo parts and with John running stuff now it seems like Primo is taking over the parts game, haha! Welcome edit might happen if we get some dry weather in Portland.

Any other sponsor news you can tell us about?
Not really, other than Wethepeople just re-did their website so if you’re reading this you should check it out! WethepeopleBMX.de

You have always been pretty consistent with edits. Have you been working on any other videos that we can expect to see popping up soon?
I wish, Haha. The weather got real bad within the last month so it’s hard to get out and go ride without getting rained out. But, I hope to have a new WTP edit dropping within a month or so.

Do you plan on getting out of the Northwest this winter at all for some warmer weather? Anywhere you want to go?
I hope so. I want to try and make it to Woodward West for their winter camp then after that hang out in L.A for a bit. I’m down to go anywhere as long as it’s dry. haha

Where have you been getting most of your riding time in these days? Any hot spots you have been real stoked on?
I’m usually cruising one of the many concrete parks around Portland but with the dry weather coming to an end, it’s rare to get a session in. But, Portland finally got a bike only indoor park this year. Which is real rad. If you ever come to Portland check em’ out! LumberYardMTB.com

What’s the last thing you have done that really scared you?
Damn, to be honest it’s been awhile. I guess I’ve been slacking, haha.

What have you been up to when you aren’t riding? Are you working or going to school at all?
My life is pretty much all BMX. I’ve been lucky with my parents supporting me and helping me have fun with BMX. I’ll do little random jobs to get extra cash. I just recently signed up at my local community college to get my school stuff done.

What’s something about yourself that might surprise people?
Damn, I don’t know. I don’t have anything I can think of. I’m just a normal dude!

What’s the last song you heard, movie you watched and website you visited?
Last song I heard is “Ocho Cinco” off of this new French Montana mixtape. Last movie I watched was “Fubar: Balls to the wall” it’s probably the funniest movie on Netflix! Last website would be Facebook. I’m always on there talking shit to chicks, haha.

I know you are on that Twitter game. How can people keep up with you these days?
Yep, I’m on twitter. But I’m starting to get burnt out on it. Hah Instagram is what’s good though! Haha Follow me on both! @CodieLarsen

Do you have any shout outs or thanks?
Just want to say thanks to my parents for helping me have as much fun as possible, Chet and all the dudes at WeThepeople, Shad at Goods, John at Primo, Will at The Lumberyard, Tera at Fuse marketing, Jason Finn for taking these photos and all the homies I ride with everyday. Also Kurt and Jeremy for letting me do this. The Union is rad.

Anything else you want to say?
Thanks for reading this dudes and keep shredding!
