Here’s one we kind of had a feeling might be coming with the start of the new year. Chris Doyle has made the decision to retire as a Professional BMX Rider. Chris has had a long, and very solid career as a BMX pro, outlasting a countless number of other riders that have been Pro during his days. Chris made the announcement on Instagram with probably the best retirement announcement ever in BMX, using a clip from “Hotrod” to bring the news. Although most people understood, he decided to make a second post (you can find below) explaining that he’ll still be involved in BMX from his commentating work at events to his podcast and more, which he’s been transitioning into the past two or 3 years now. He just won’t be cashing those sponsor checks like he used to! Either way, Chris has been one of my favorite riders from pretty much the first time I rode BMX and it’s safe to say he’ll continue to hold that spot for a lot of riders into the future! Expect to see plenty more from the Big D in 2020, just not in the contest results.
Update: Brant Moore dropped a live stream interview with Chris about the news! Check it out below!
