After a good run with the popular “Issue” frame that has seen a few versions over the course of the past few years, Sean Sexton and Kink decided it was time to start fresh with a new frame versus a revised version. A few weeks back we got a little sneak peek look at Sean’s new signature “SXTN” frame that they have been working on out in New York and we were really digging what we were seeing. We hit up Kink to get a little exclusive first in-depth look at just what they have been cooking up in the kitchen. We have the full specs, details and close up photos just in time for its release the first week of March! If you are on the hunt for a new frame, we would suggest you make the jump to check this frame out!
The Sean Sexton signature SXTN frame is made from 100% Seameless Sanko 4130 chromoly tubing with a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.75″ bottom bracket height, 8.5″ stand over height and a 13.65″ chain stay length (slammed) which is pretty similar to his previous Issue frame. However, for this version they have added a lot of new features that really make it stand out.
The SXTN frame features a gusset on the down tube, an ovalized down tube that helps resist denting, an internally and externally machined MID bottom bracket, an integrated seat post clamp, wider seat and chain stays to help fit those big monster truck 2.40″ tires, a custom Investment Cast seat stay bridge with extra machining for a badass look, rounded seat and chain stay bridges for additional tire clearance, removable brake mounts using the Easy Brake System and Investment Cast hollow drop outs with integrated chain tensioners.
Sean wanted to do something unique for the seat stay bridge, so they came up with this extra strong Investment Cast bridge that features a really clean look. Both of the seat and chain stay bridges are rounded for additional tire clearance when the wheel is slammed. The entire rear end is also wider to accommodate for 2.40″ tires.
The SXTN frame features hollow Investment Cast drop outs with integrated chain tensioners built in. The frame features a 13.65″ chain stay length when the wheel is slammed in the drop out.
Sean’s new signature SXTN frame will be hitting shops the first week of March and come in top tube sizes of 20.5″, 20.85″ and 21″ with colors of Black ED, matte white and matte raw, a weight of 4 lbs. 14 oz. (20.5″) and a retail price of $309.99!
