Sneak Peek: Pedal Driven Cycles – 22″ Operator Frame

Pedal Driven Cycles 22" Operator BMX Frame

Although 22″ bikes have been around for 15+ years, we’ve been seeing a big increase in the options available the past few years. Here’s a sneak peek look at a new frame option that’ll be dropping this summer from Dave Harrison at Pedal Driven Cycles. Dave has been working with Matt Stahl to create a frame that is built for the technical ramp riding style rider that wants to run the 22″ size. The Operator 22″ Frame has a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 9.5″ standover height, 12″ bottom bracket height and a 13.8″ chainstay length (slammed). The frame features a long tapered integrated head tube, top and downtube gussets with laser cut logos, a double butted top tube, straight gauge down tube, a single butted seat tube, an externally machined Mid bottom bracket, low profile chainstays with plenty of clearance for 2.40″ tires and 30-tooth sprockets, and welded seat stay brakes with drilled guides or completely brakeless if you prefer that route.

The 22″ Operator frame will be available in 21.75″ and 22.75″ top tube lengths with Sea Foam Green and Claret (appears to be a dark red / brown color) for the color options and a weight of 5.05 lbs on the 22.75″ size. No word on price, but we’ll let you know when that information is available. Until then, you can learn more about this frame project on the Pedal Driven Cycles website!

Here’s a few words from Matt that lead to his signature 22″ Operator frame happening…

“I have been riding these bikes for a long time and always felt something was a little off. I was never able to put my finger on it. When Dave asked me to ride for PDC and told me he wanted to do a frame for me I was blown away. My current set up is a custom he made for me and I felt that It had some of the same issues my previous bikes had. I wanted to address those issues and make a frame that was designed for my more tech riding style. The group of guys we gathered to help on this project have been a huge help every step of the way. Getting input from an outside source is always valuable.” – Matt Stahl

Ok guys, it’s still early in the testing phase of these frames, but I’ve got to say that I’m loving the way this frame handles so far! The sea foam is much sicker in person too! Keep your eyes peeled, as there should be a promo edit from the testing team on these!
