DeMarcus is one of those riders who has been popping up in edits for a while absolutely crushing at all times. I didn’t really know much about him other than that. He’s one of those riders that I always wondered when somebody would pick him up with a sponsor deal. I knew eventually it would happen, I just didn’t know when.
That all changed the other week when it was announced that DeMarcus had joined the Freed Bikes team. It’s the opportunity he’s been needing and I think it’ll lead him in some good places.
I figured with the new sponsor and everything that he would be building himself up a fresh new setup. We caught up with him to take a look at this fresh build and to find out a little bit more about the guy since I know we’ll be seeing plenty more of him in the future. Take a look!

What’s the newest part on your bike?
Frame and Bars
What’s the oldest?
Bottom bracket
What do you usually go through the fastest?
Grips, pedals, tires and bar ends.
Do you have to have your bike setup a certain way to make it feel right or can you work with whatever?
I prefer my seat to be raised at least three inches and I like my bars high. If not, I feel that I can adjust to a different setup.
Does your setup change much? More pegs, less pegs, brakes, or anything like that?
Over my years of riding I would always switch it up a little bit. Lately I’ve been running three pegs no brakes.
What would you say your favorite part on your bike is right now?
Pegs.
So it was announced the other day that you have been added to the Freed Bikes team. How did that opportunity come about?
I’ve always been a fan of Freed. I was presented with the opportunity a few months ago. We kept in touch and we finally made it happen.
What do you have in the works with them so far? Any trips, signature parts or anything you’re looking forward to?
We are actually going on a team trip to Woodward West next month. I’m looking forward to traveling more and having a great time.
Do you have any other sponsor news you can tell us about?
I’m just pumped on all my sponsors. I’m thankful for everything that they do for me.
So over the past year or so, I’ve been seeing you pop up in a handful of edits and every time you end up killing it. Can we expect some more footage of you to surface soon?
Noo, I’m washed up! Haha, Yeah I’ve been working on a few things that should surface soon.
San Diego is definitely a hot spot for BMX. Who have you been getting most of your riding time in with these days?
SD is a hot spot for BMX. I don’t have a particular group of guys that I prefer to ride with so I ride with everyone.
Where have you been spending a lot of time riding lately? Any spots you have been real stoked on lately?
San Diego parks and street has been my savior, haha. I’m super thankful to be in an awesome place doing what I love with amazing people.
What are your travel plans looking like for the summer? Anywhere you hope you can get to at some point?
I’m really looking forward to going to Woodward next month I’ve never been. I would love to travel to just about anywhere out of the country.
What have you been getting into when you aren’t riding these days? Anything else you’re really good at?
I’ve just been working on finishing some projects. Some other things I enjoy doing when I’m not riding are reading, playing basketball, spending time with my girlfriend’s kids and my family when I get to see them.
I feel like not a lot of people know much about you. Care to share 3 words that you feel describe you well?
Humble, motivated and thankful
What’s one thing you could use more of and one thing you could use less of?
Mo’ Money and less problems
