There’s no doubt that Dirt Ron is what we like to call “unique”. Ron is the kind of guy who doesn’t follow the typical scheme of setup or riding that you can find popping up online most days. I mean, how many people do you see running only a front brake and do candy bars more than actual barspins? Being different isn’t bad, in fact, that’s what I love about the guy! I’ve never experienced a bad moment being in his presence and I’m sure there’s a lot of other people who can say the same.
Back in March we were given the privilege to announce that Ron had been added to the Bone Deth team, which was more than a perfect fit for him. Recently, Jeremy spent some time with him and they decided to see how his new setup is treating him. So let’s take a closer look at Ron’s new setup along with a few extra questions for good measure!

What is it about your bike that you are the most picky about?
I like to run my seat post kind of high for seat grabs, no footed nose picks, and just cruisin’ around. If I can’t sit down while pedaling I’m pissed ha-ha.
How long does a set-up typically last you?
I’ll change parts here and there but as far as frames, forks, and bars I’ll run that stuff into the ground. I usually have a bike at least a year or more.
What parts do you go through the most?
Bars, Seatpost, Grips. Running your seat post as high as I do gives a lot of leverage for bending and I land with my feet off the pedals quite often. I bail a lot too so I’ve been known to tweak and even snap a few bars. My Deadman bars are holding up nice though.
Are the front brakes here to stay?
Are boobs good?
Well it’s pretty obvious that you ride for Bone Deth now so why don’t you fill us in on the details and what it’s like riding for Sean Burns.
Riding for Sean Burns and Ferbert is sick! Burns is a badass and I’ve always looked up to him so being asked to be on the team with him is an honor. It’s the same with Ferbert and all the rest of the Bone Deth homies. Everyone on the team rides like a beast! I love me a tabes and I love gettin’ weird so Bone Deth is the only way to go!
Do you have any projects in the works with them?
Just working on filming for the next Bone Deth video for now. Hopefully fly out to Boston to hang out with all the dudes this summer and take some road trips. I’m just taking it as it comes and excited to work with everyone.
How about you give us a good story from the road. Surprise us.
There’s a lot. But I guess I can give you one of the G-rated ones. We were on a ‘Give D’ trip up to Canada in the Odyssey van and were just stopping at every skatepark/shredspot on the way up. We stopped at Sacramento park after Kyle Hart had been driving through the night and scoped it out. The skatepark there is so huge its like three skateparks in one! The whole bunch of us couldn’t all sleep in the van so some of us had to sleep outside. In those days I was usually unprepared for any kind of road trip with just a backpack and no sleeping bag. I slept outside with a bunch of the other dudes wearing just my dirty clothes I wore that whole trip and my sheep skin lined jean jacket that I thought would keep me toasty. I woke up in the morning with absolutely no feeling in my toes. I was a lil’ bit worried at first and but didn’t want to say anything to the dudes. I thought I was all tough but I was sitting on the sidewalk rubbing my feet for an hour or so till I could feel anything again. Then we rode the place for maybe 15 minutes before we got kicked out. Epic.
