When it comes to street crews, there’s a good chance you’re pretty familiar with The Daily Grind‘s team. One dude on there team who we’ve been watching over the years that you might not be super familiar is Eric Mesta. Eric is one of those guys who is always putting off a super good vibe, a serious grind technician and a crankflip wizard. We caught wind that he was running a sample of Zack Gerber’s signature frame that Standard is working on, so we figured it would be an awesome time to do a bike check to get a look at his current setup along with find out a little bit more about this guy! That would be my Frame and Forks.
What about the oldest? Does it hold any sort of sentimental value?
My rear Daily Grind hub guard. Yes and no, it was the first DG hub guard Gremiln sent me. But it’s still on because it’s still good and keeps taking a beating.
Are you pretty particular about the way you like your bike setup?
Yes and no I, do like to make sure my chain is a bit loose and I like to grease up my headset every month or so.

How often do you build a new bike up?
When everything is broken, and I have to. I am going to ride it to the very end.
If you had to pick a favorite part on your bike, what would it be and why?
I love my Daily Grind Eon Pegs. It allows me to do what I need to do.
You have been a part of The Daily Grind crew for a long time now. How are things going with them?
Things are going great. I’m still honored and humbled to be a part of such a great team. They are an awesome crew and I’m so stoked to be a part of it. However it definitely sucks not being able to ride with the guys every weekend, but we all keep in contact through calls, and text messages and they try to come out during the winter. We also have some new bars coming out that are a bit taller so be on the lookout.
Do you have any trips or projects you’re working on?
As of right now I’m working on a lot of projects with Feeble Life wax company and getting the Feeble Life crew down to LA to stack some Clips for the video we are currently working on. Looking to make a trip back out to Ohio next year. I have a few spots I’d like to check out and a rail to battle with. I’m also working on a DG edit so be on the lookout for that.
You started your own wax company, right?
Yeah it’s called Feeble Life
What’s Feeble Life all about and what sets your stuff apart from the other guys?
Feeble life is about balance and control, in everybody’s daily life. Whether you’re a bike rider, skater, Mom/Dad, an accountant etc., it doesn’t matter. Everything in your daily life you have to balance. Job, school, kids, or whatever it is you have to do day to day, it takes balance. You may not finish or get it but you tried. Just like a feeble grind, it takes balance and precision. I’m not a professional rider, meaning that I don’t get paid to ride. I work a regular nine to Five job in a warehouse, and after that I have other priorities to take care of before I can ride or do the things I’d like to. I’ve also been told I’m really good at the feeble grind, so all in all that’s where Feeble Life comes from. I believe what sets my wax apart from the rest of the people in the wax game is that I’m passionate about it and I feel I know what I am doing. I mean, a lot of my riding is focused on grinding, but Feeble Life Wax is also hand made for riders by riders in my garage and I’m not in it become rich and or famous, but to be a help to everyone a spread the passion of what we do. Feeble Life wax is not just limited to BMX it can be used for skating, surfing etc. try some and get your grind on!!
What do you have cooking with that as far as future plans are going?
As of right now I’m currently working with a local designer Travis Stevenson on creating a new shirt. I’ve been working on the video and trying to take the crew to LA before the end of the year. I am also working on getting the wax into more shops. That’s pretty much it as for future plans right now.
Anything you’re really stoked for?
Well, like I said earlier, I am super stoked for being a part of the Daily Grind. I can’t thank all the dudes enough!! I’m stoked on how everything’s being going with Feeble Life and filming with the crew. All the dudes kill it!! I’m stoked for being able to have this opportunity to do this bike check/interview with you guys! Thanks again!! I guess you can say I’m just stoked in general, haha.. I’m out here trying to do the most and having fun doing it!!
Any big plans for the winter riding or non-riding?
I’m definitely trying to head up to the snow with my girl but besides that, not really. The DG guys might come thru for the winter or maybe go on a couple road trips.
We know you’re a master when it comes to the crankflip… What is the key to the crankflip?
I don’t know, what is the key is to the crankflip! I’d say heavy or metal pin pedals help out as well as a loose chain in my opinion.
Do you do anything special with your setup to ensure maximum flipping of the cranks?
No, not really. I just like to have my chain a bit loose.
Where can you usually be found riding these days?
In the Streets! Haha.. or at my local park sometimes after work.
What are you into outside of BMX?
Let’s see I like to hang out with my girl, play video games, play pool, and go on hikes. I’m also pretty creative. So, I like to draw, and build things in the garage.
Do you have a job or any other hobbies that fill up your time?
Yeah I work a full time warehouse job, but besides riding and trying to find time to be creative, Feeble Life pretty much takes up the rest of my time.
What’s the last song you heard and movie you watched?
The last song I heard was Tupac’s “Hit em Up”. That song really gets me going!!
I believe the last movie I saw was Black Mass with Johnny Depp.
How can we keep up with you?
You guys can keep up with me by following me on Facebook and Instagram @ericmesta or @feeble_life
Do you have any shout outs or thanks!
