Life is funny. One day you can be on top of the world, then out of no where you can have your life flipped upside down. Recently, our good friend and one of Canada’s finest BMX riders, Pascal Lafontaine, was diagnosed with a cancer called Ewing Sarcoma in his right foot. Due to the cancer, on June 10th they were forced to amputate his foot and part of his leg to keep the cancer from spreading.
As you can imagine, with something like this it is very sudden and unexpected and because of it, Pascal is being forced to re-learn how to do his whole life with the use of prosthetics. This has also forced him to put BMX on the back burner for the time being until he can get a prosthetic designed similar to Kurt Yaegar’s to get him back on his bike.
Despite being put in a shitty situation, Pascal is staying positive and working his ass off to get back to his life and riding.
Prior to finding out the news, Pascal had shot a ton of riding photos that would be his last before going through the emergency amputation surgery that you can check out by visiting the link below! We have also included a quick clip of Pascal doing his physical therapy to re-learn how to walk! We hope you can all send Pascal some positive vibes to help keep him motivated to get back on the bike, we sure are!
