Burr Ridge, Ill. – April 21, 2011 – Seeking the best amateur BMX riders across the country, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour today announced the complete BMX schedule for the 2011 season. Hosting a total of 13 contests at 11 parks this summer, the Tour officially kicks off May 22 in Santa Rosa, Calf. at Ramp Rats. Registration for all events is now open at gatoradefreeflowtour.com.

“Kicking off the seventh season of the summer Gatorade Free Flow Tour is a major success in our support of up-and-coming talent in skateboarding and BMX,” said Carla Hess, action sports team manager for Gatorade. “Expanding our contests to new parks while providing professional-quality contests will set us apart yet again.”

With a focus on quality events, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will hold contests in BMX park and dirt. BMX dirt will once again be featured at three contests each. Reaching from Florida to California, these contests will take the top three finishers from each event to the Finals. BMX park will advance the top finisher from each contest to the Finals. 2011 will host a total of 13 BMX contests (three BMX dirt and 10 BMX park) at 11 parks across the United States.

The 2011 schedule features some of the top parks across the country. Welcoming groms since the inception of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, Ramp Rats (now located in Santa Rosa, Calif.) will hold a BMX park contest for the seventh consecutive year – the only park to hold that distinction. Also making a return will be Flow (Columbus, Ohio), which in addition to their BMX park contest, will build dirt trails specifically for the Gatorade Free Flow Tour. New for the season is The Skatepark of Tampa, who will open their doors to BMX park, along with 12th Street Jumps (Ogden, Utah), a new host for dirt.

“It’s nice to see a legendary company like Gatorade continuing to support BMX and the local parks across the country,” said Mike Krnaich, owner of Ramp Rats. “We are proud to have Gatorade in the Ramp Rats shop and supporting our sport.”

Building on the buzz around the Gatorade Free Flow Tour is the grassroots Park Revolution program. Returning from last year, this unique opportunity gives back to each host park as they are given a shot at winning a share of $17,500. Participating parks will receive marketing tools to promote their local event, with results comprised of a mix of Facebook voting and industry guest judging.
