It’s Sunday and I hope you had yourself a good week. As expected, the week brought a whole bunch of real good videos that you might have missed unless you’ve been sitting on your computer bored all week. I’ve got 13 of the best videos that dropped in the past week for you to go back and watch again or enjoy for the first time. Take a peek!
Above we’ve got Reed Stark’s promo video for his new signature Giraffic bars from BSD. Reed has been a rider I’ve been watching grow up for years (given I’m only like 3 years older than him) here in the Minnesota scene. As long as I can remember he’s always been a really talented rider. In the last few years he has really progressed at an insane rate due to the opportunity to travel and ride all over the place with some of the best riders in the world. It’s awesome seeing a friend and all around good guy like Reed getting the opportunity to have his own signature part. If you don’t know who he is or why he has a signature part, I highly advise you hit play on that video above. It’ll be pretty clear as to why after that. Hell yeah, Reed!
JJ Palmere has always been a rider that I can count on to produce some top notch riding. This past week it was announced that he had joined the Lotek team and that news was brought with this dialed edit. You won’t be disappointed with this one by any means. Tony Ennis did a hell of a job with the filming and editing for this one as well. All around quality.
If you haven’t caught on yet, this past week brought on some damn good videos from some damn good street riders. It was announced a few weeks back that Alex Raban had joined the Volume team. Ever since then I was anticipating this welcome to the team edit. There’s always a pretty steady flow of edits and video parts from Alex and I’ve yet to ever be disappointed by anything he’s produced yet. This new video is by far some of the best riding I’ve seen out of him and I’m looking forward to seeing what this opportunity with Volume allows him to do.
The past few months have been really good to Alex Kennedy. He’s landed in the top 3 for pretty much every street contest he has entered from The Bakery in Chicago to NASS in the U.K. The other day I came across this edit with a really strange name. I believe I spotted it on Facebook. Either way, I definitely posted it up in the Daily section when it only had about 100 views. About 22,450 views ago… In this edit, Alex spends some time at the Charmette Bonupa skatepark putting in some work. It doesn’t really matter what you put in front of Alex, it seems like he can always produce something awesome. This edit is nothing short of that. Definitely worth a look at it one more time.
Since this week is going to be plagued with street edits, I figured we could break it up a little with this trails edit featuring Ryan Guettler for Ethika. Since Ryan has moved back out to California, he really has been on fire with edits. This new one features Ryan cruising a few different sets of trails around Southern California and as you can imagine, he drops plenty of good riding. The title of this has the hashtag #BringDirtBack which after yet another fairly disappointing X-Games due to some ridiculous events they would rather do involving things like rally cars and giant loops instead of BMX dirt, it is definitely something people need to push for. Maybe next year, right?
Since Dan’s Comp announced that they would be working on a team DVD a few months back, shortly after assembling a hell of a team (Hell yeah, Scott!), they have been producing a ton of edits featuring “scraps” from the team. I can’t remember for sure, but I think this is like the 4th edit featuring Stevie Churchill’s “scraps” that is just mind blowing. The level of riding he does when he’s just having a laid back session is unbelievable. I cannot wait to see his section or three in the video. I say that because I feel like he’s going to have so many clips they will need a few sections. Stew Johnson handled the filming and editing for this so you already know everything is on point in that department.
I’m not exactly sure why this video bike check of Greg Illingworth only has a little over 2,000 views… In the video, Greg not only gives you a look at his Mongoose Fraction setup that’s decked out with Eclat parts, but he absolutely kills it with the riding clips! Greg never fails to blow my mind with how good he is. I’ve been a huge fan of him since I saw him kill it at the Simple Session a few years back. If you remember this edit, you are probably a big fan of his as well. Either way, if you’re looking for some awesome riding and a look at a dialed bike, this would be the video for you this week.
It seems like every single one of Premiere BMX Shop‘s edits have been dialed. The other day Dan Boiski’s latest edit for them dropped and as you can imagine it turned out damn good. The riding is so good. I still can’t believe how slow some of the ice picks he does in this are. I don’t remember exactly who handles the filming and editing for these guys, but I want to say it was Ben Green. Don’t hold that to me because they don’t mention it in the videos, but it looks a lot like his work.
The other day this bio on FBM welder, Joby Springsteen, dropped. The video gives you some insight into the way he lives and looks at things, it also gives you a look at him welding some of the finest frames in BMX. If you remember the interview we did with him late last year ( check it out here ), you would know he’s definitely a unique and all around awesome guy. It’s hard not to get stoked on good people doing good things for BMX. Not to mention that the film work Jon Walley did for this was real good. You’ll enjoy this one.
Coalition recently sent Tammy McCarley up from San Diego to Chicago to spend a week or two with teammate, Jeff Wescott. While he was in the city they spent their time out filming with Tony Malouf for this new video. They didn’t have the best of luck with transportation, weather or the police, but they still managed to come through with a real good edit. You can’t really put two real talent riders together with a talented filmer and editor and not get something good out of it even with the worst luck. This actually makes two damn good edits out of Tony this week since he also did Reed’s edit up top. I’m real stoked to see Coalition making a push back into BMX’s presence again as well.
Two in a row from Chicago! It was announced a few months back that Trent McDaniel would be representing Division Brand here in the U.S. After what seems like a while, Trent’s welcome edit finally surfaced and damn did it turn out good. Anyone who knows Trent knows that he definitely stresses getting things done right, so I knew before I even hit play that this one would be worth the watch. In this edit, Jeff Wescott spends his time behind the lens, which I’m sure plenty of you have seen work he has produced over the last few years.
Rumor on the street is that Trent has another edit that will be dropping on The Union at some point… You didn’t hear that from me though.
This past week Animal uploaded the Skapegoat 6 DVD that came out just a few months ago for your viewing pleasure. Anyone who has been in BMX for a while knows that these Skapegoat videos, even though they are compiled of mostly unused footage from other projects, always come out so damn good. If you’re looking to spent 20 minutes of your time in a good way, this would be the way to go with it. Enjoy.
A few weeks back, Kink‘s Aaron Smith, Ben Hittle, and Darryl Tocco made a trip from Boston up to Montreal to meet up with their Canadian connects through Ten Pack, James Steele and Wayne Hartman. This edit is basically a video made from leftover clips that they aren’t saving for the DVD that Kink is working on and for some reason it’s still loaded with really good riding. Obviously, Darryl Tocco handled the filming and editing for this one and as always, he was able to produce a proper video. I’m definitely interested to see what Kink has cooking with all these clips from trips they have been stock piling…
All right, that wraps up this weeks edition of Hangover. I hope you’re feeling better after seeing all of this goodness. Check back next Sunday to see what good comes from this coming week. Until then, hit up the front page for more of our Original‘s or hit up the Daily Section for all the latest videos, news, products and more.
