If you are waking up with permanent marker all over your face wondering what the hell happened last night, there’s a good chance you are also trying to remember what you did all week. If that’s the case, you probably don’t remember some of those real good edits that dropped this past week. So, like we have been doing the past few Sunday’s now, we have all those edits here in one place for you to check out. Enjoy!
We’re starting this week off with the edit from the Eclat Free and Sleazy trip to Shanghai. Nathan Williams, Shane Weston, Chester Blacksmith, Darryl Tocco, Sean Burns and Iz Pulido recently spent 12 days in Shanghai, China with film maker Will Evans touring the city and hitting spots along the way. When you combine a team like that, a city as large and jam packed as Shanghai and Will Evans, you are more than bound to have something really good end up as a result. This nearly 11 minute video is loaded with amazing riding and insight from the guys. It looks like it was the perfect trip.
There’s no doubt that the Sunday team is absolutely stacked. That means when you can get them all together in a city like Atlanta, Georgia for a few days, things will go down. On this particular trip, they got Aaron Ross, Gary Young, Garrett Reeves, Eric Lichtenberger, Alex Magallan, Lee Dennis, Jake Seeley, Jim Cielencki and Chris Burden together for some team bonding time. During their time, they came across plenty of spots and parks to ride and ended up with 9 minutes and 35 seconds of goodness for you to enjoy. Francis Delapena and Jim Cielencki handled the filming and Francis also edited the whole video. I’m definitely a big fan of all of Francis’ work. This video came out just as dialed as I had hoped for when I was seeing photos and other stuff pop up from the trip before its release. There’s no way this wouldn’t have made this weeks list.
A few weeks back, Vans and The Diggest teamed up for a trip to New York City with Alex Valentino, Kevin Kalkoff and Matthias Dandois. Obviously, a city like New York City that’s so jam packed with unique sights and spots, it wasn’t hard for these guys to find some original spots and lines to throw down on. I’m also really digging the style of filming and editing that Thibaut Grevet went with for this. It’s got such a good feel to it with the lifestyle shots mixed in so well with the well setup riding clips. This definitely turned out to be a hell of a good video with 7 minutes and 23 seconds for you to spend some time drooling over.
Sometimes it’s not fair how much talent some people possess. James Cox would be one of those humans that I’m completely envious of. Not only is James a highly respected film maker, he’s also a phenomenal bike rider that’s deserving of signature parts. What happens when you combine James’ film work with his riding? You get a rad promo video for his signature Directors Cut seat from S&M like this one above. You never want to skip over a James Cox video no matter what side of the lens he’s on.
I never feel like there’s enough Max Gaertig footage floating around these days. Being a hell of a street rider and the king of half cab tailwhips, I always get real excited about footage of him popping up. Recently, he spent some time in Portland, Oregon with Wethepeople team mates, Chester Blacksmith, Codie Larsen and Marcas Grubbs. While he was there, these guys all went out and filmed a ton of real good clips to make for an edit that’s definitely worth revisiting. Take a peek.
Toronto is on hell of a city. I’m absolutely blown away by the place every time I get the chance to visit there. So when you bring some of the Animal team together with some of the Ten Pack team together in the city you are bound to have good things happen. On this particular trip, Chris Silva, Taylor Elvy and Corey Dewey were joined by Mike Brennan, Lino Gonzalez, Jeff Kocsis, Tyrone Williams, Oba Stanley and Garrett Hoogerhyde and special guests Chijioke Okafo and Luke Santucci for a few days of exploring the city’s streets and parks. I really don’t feel like it’s necessary to say shit went down with a line up like that. They had Brad Hill behind the lens with the VX so this proper edit came from the trip for your viewing pleasure.
Mike Cottle is a hell of a guy. This week he had a fresh edit loaded with some trails and skatepark goodness from Orlando, Florida pop up for The Shadow Conspiracy. The video isn’t loaded with whips and barspins and I think that’s one reason I enjoy watching his riding so much. He keeps it simple and clean. Plus, Mike scored some bonus points for this week since it was his birthday the other day. Happy Birthday, Mike! Hope it was a good one!
The past few months, Ryan Nyquist spent a bunch of time off his bike healing from a hell of a hand injury that took 3 separate surgeries just to correct. Anyone who knows what it’s like to be forced off the bike for an extended period of time knows how hard it is. Ryan recently got the okay to start riding again and as expected he came back firing out his classic tricks like he didn’t miss a day. If you look closely, he’s only rocking a front brake which is crazy. Ever since I started riding 11 or so years ago, Ryan has always had a tall seat, 4 pegs, front and back brakes. Always. But he decided to mix things up for a little bit and see where it lead him. So far, it has lead him to this sick edit from a trip to Austin, Texas to get some riding in for Osiris. Terrell Gordy did a great job with the filming and editing as expected so I definitely have a lot of appreciation for this one since there’s a lot more to the story than just the riding.
So that wraps up this weeks Hangover. If it didn’t help with the headache, it at least probably got you stoked to go ride at some point… once you get your ass out of bed.
