A few days ago I got a mysterious package from FedEx. I was a little confused since I wasn’t expecting anything in particular. That was until I saw where it came from and realized they had to be the new Cult X Vans collaboration shoes. Once I got my keys out to tear the box open, I was pleasantly surprised to see both of the Atwood Mid’s, Brasco’s and the new grips with the Vans pattern. Let’s take a closer look…
Both of the shoes come with the same features and look, but you can find them in a regular and mid style. If you have seen any of my other reviews or Insights, I’m more of a mid style guy. Above you can see the Atwood Mid. Which is my personal favorite.
The shoes come wrapped in high-end black leather with a Vulcanized outsole that has Vans’ classic waffle sole. If you look closely you can see there’s a little different pattern where your feet usually hit the pedals which is pretty cool.
The midsole is made from a Megathane that helps with comfort and gives a little more protection when it comes to preventing heel bruising.
Inside you can find 6 oz. of canvas for the liner in that Cult hunter orange they have been working with. Then the footbed cushion has a Cult logo on one shoe and “See You In The End” in the other.
Below you can see the Brasco which is the regular style version of the shoe.
As you can see, the shoes are made from the same materials, and look pretty much the same except for the Atwood being a mid and having the extra loop in the back to help pull the shoe on and the extra white strip on the outsole between the rubber and leather.
Otherwise, some of the other aesthetic features of the shoe include the clean Vans tag on the side, the Cult logo on the tongue and then the heel Vans logo.
I should mention that these shoes you are seeing are production samples, so I’d imagine they are the same as the production versions, but there might be small changes from these to the production version. Doubtful, but I thought I should mention it.
The third item in the collaboration are these grips. Made from none other than the best in the business, ODI. These flangeless grips have the same pattern as the Vans waffle pattern and have the same rubber compound feel of the classic Longnecks. The grips have small Vans and Cult logos on the ends along with Cult barends to seal the deal.
Overall, the collaboration turned out real rad. I’m psyched on how clean the shoes came out and they’re real comfy shoes. You already know they grip the pedals well with the Waffle sole as well. Hopefully this helped give you a closer look at what the Cult and Vans collaboration kit consists of. These became available July 1st and since this is a limited edition thing, they will probably go pretty fast.
You can pick up the Atwood Mid for $60 but I haven’t found where you can buy these just yet, but I’d imagine Dan’s Comp will have both shoes soon.
You can pick up the Brasco for $55 on Vans.com now.
You can pick up the grips for $10.99 on the Cult site now in orange, black, white and gum. These will also be everywhere Cult is sold soon.
