Insight: Fly Bikes – 2015 Proton Complete Bike

With just a few days until the 4th of July and the Salute to the 4th BMX Contest that we’re helping to throw at Silverlake Skatepark here in Rochester, Minnesota. We have a bunch of prizes showing up on the doorstep to give away for some of the winners of the contest. Our friends over at Fly Bikes were more than gracious enough to hook us up with one of their 2015 Proton complete bikes to give away to one of the winners of the contest, so we wanted to take a minute to give you a closer look at this bike as a thank you, and because let’s be real… It’s one dialed BMX bike! Above you can find a quick time-lapse we put together from building up the bike which took only about 15 minutes start to finish. Fly Bikes Proton 2015 Complete BMX Bike

The 2015 Proton complete from Flybikes starts out with a 100% 4130 chromoly frame with a 21″ top tube length, 8.5″ standover height and 13.6″ rear end. The bars are made from 100% 4130 chromoly with an 8.75″ rise and 29″ width and a fork that is also 100% 4130 chromoly with a 32mm offset. The rest of the bike is decked out with Fly Bikes and Trebol parts. You can find Devon Smillie’s signature Flybikes Devon grips, a Trebol top load stem, Trebol ICS 4130 chromoly 3-piece cranks with a sealed Spanish bottom bracket, Trebol 25-tooth chromoly sprocket, Flybikes Ruben Graphite pedals, A Trebol wheels with sealed front and rear hubs with a 9-tooth chromoly cassette driver in the back, Fly Bikes Ruben 2.35″ tires front a rear, a Flybikes Medio Tripod seat, Trebol 6061-T6 aluminum Tripod post and Flybikes’ Manual brake lever and Manual Springhanger brakes with removable brake mounts.

The rear wheel features a sealed 14mm Trebol cassette hub with 9-tooth driver laced to a Trebol rim with a 2.35″ Flybikes Ruben Rampera tire.

The front wheel features a sealed Trebol 3/8″ hub that’s laced to a Trebol rim with a 2.35″ Flybikes Ruben Rampera tire!
