The other day we posted up the Kink 2015 Parts Collection catalog up on the site that gave us a good look at their full range of frames and parts that Kink have released worldwide this month. Inside, we caught a look at a few items that really caught our eye, including the new Yukon cassette hub. We were curious to find out just what made up this cassette hub, so we got in touch with the guys over in New York and got all the specs and details. Let’s start this off talking about the Yukon cassette hub. This 36-hole hub is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a clean and simple look. Inside you can find an oversized 17mm hollow chromoly female axle with 8mm allen hex / 17mm socket chromoly bolts, two oversized sealed hub bearings and a ceramic driver bushing. The 8 or 9 tooth chromoly driver uses an improved 4-pawl design that helps eliminate skipping during engagement and utilized the Switchable Drive System (SDS) making it right and left side drive compatible.
The Yukon hub is available in matte black and matte red with a weight of 17 oz.!
It’s always a good idea to protect your investment and if you are into grinding, a hub guard is an important piece to consider using on your hub to protect your hub shel and spokes. Kink have designed a Nylon hub guard to fit the Yukon (and their new East Coaster hub) that is made from injection molded nylon material and fits directly over the existing hardware so there’s no need to remove any parts of the hub to make it work.
The Nylon hub guard is available in black with a weight of 1.3 oz.
If you’re in need of a whole new back wheel, Kink have also utilized the Yukon hub in their new complete wheel. The wheel starts out with the Yukon hub and is laced to a Kink Atlas 36-hole, 6061-T6 rim with stainless steel spokes and brass nipples. Since the hub uses the Switchable Drive System, the wheel is right and left side drive compatible and comes in 8 or 9 tooth driver versions.
The Yukon Rear Wheel comes in matte black only with a weight of 42.7oz.
