The other day I had package pop up in my mail that I was looking for. Inside this package was the first edition of Adam Spitalny‘s new Boston based design, photography, music and BMX zine, Repzine.
I was particularily excited about this just because I know Adam’s work is high quality and it sounded like he was putting some serious time and effort into doing it right. Turns out, that was just the case. Check out a little preview and a few more words after the jump…
The first edition of Repzine highlights the end of the C-Pool, rider Abdul Fofananah, an interview with grafitti artist, Peach, a few reviews of bars in Boston, a bunch of rad photos from the city and an interview with DJ Mass Appeal Beatz.
Overall, the format of the magazine is really rad. It definitely appeals more to somebody from the east coast and more particularly the Boston area, but it’s still an awesome read and the photos will definitely leave you stuck staring for a while. I actually feel like I really need to visit the city after checking this out which is pretty cool. I also feel like this zine appeals to more than just the BMX crowd which is a good thing since having more people outside of the sport getting a better idea of what we’re all about is definitely a good thing.
I’d like to give a big shout out to Adam for putting in work on this and for sending through a copy for me to check out. You can get your hands on a copy by visiting the Repzine website to find out what shops carry it, and how to buy a copy for $4 through Payapl or through the 90East webstore.
It sounds like there will be 4 issues a year, so I’m looking forward to seeing what comes from this in the future! Below is a video Adam dropped giving you a flip through of the magazine.
