When it comes to BMX, spot hunting has always been a part of the challenge. Whether it’s finding street spots, local parks or trails, there’s something about knowing and remembering where all the spots are or finding new ones that you never knew existed that makes it fun. Over the years riders have had different ways of logging spots to remember spots they rode or potentially ride in the future. I mean, how often have you driven by a place and thought “I need to go ride that spot!” then a few weeks later you drive by again and you’re like “I still need to ride that spot. I forgot”? With apps becoming more and more apart of everyones lives making things quite a bit easier, it’s no surprise that BMX riders and skaters are cooking up some rad ideas, too. We were recently introduced to the Spotsesh App and we were really stoked on it. We figured you guys might be into it too, so let’s take a closer look!
So, let’s start out with the concept of the app. Spotsesh is essentially a spot directory that allows you to set pin points on different street spots, skateparks and trails so you can remember where they are or use for future reference. The app has the ability to allow you to privately stack these spots into the app or share them publicly, so if you’re not trying to blow a spot out, but you want to give your friends a heads up, there’s that capability.
Are you going on a road trip but don’t have a clue where anything is? Pop open the app and check out some of the local spots that have been tagged making it easy to find and possibly link up with some of the local riders. It’s just as much of a guide as it is a place for you to log your own spots. Since this is a pretty new app, they are still building up a big database, so the more people on this app the more spots you will be able to check out.
Loading up spots is easy. Drop in a title, pin point the location with an address, give it some details about what the spot has to offer and upload a photo or a few photos to give people a better idea of what the spot has to offer. It’s simple and straightforward which is always a good thing.
Like we mentioned above, the Spotsesh app allows you to set the visability of spots you upload to the app to public or private. If you choose private, only you and those who you select can view the spots. This is to help prevent secret spots you don’t want to have blown out to be kept under wraps as long as nobody else uploads it publicly.
Similar to Instagram, you can “Like” and comment on spots. Have a question about what the setup is like when you actually ride it? If the security is bad? When the best times to go to the spot is? This allows you to shoot the person who uploaded the spot a message and get all the details.
Your profile allows you to add friends, upload new spots, check out the map or even just do a quick search for local spots that you might not have known about.
So, that about wraps up the features of Spotsesh. You can download the app for FREE in the App Store — Spotsesh App Download now. The App is currently unavailable in the Anroid store, which is about the only downside we could find for the app other than the chance that a spot that people want to keep a secret ends up being leaked.
Overall, we think the app is a great idea and the guys behind it did a rad job making it simple and easy to use. Give it a download and try it out. The more people that use the app the more beneficial it will be since that will just lead to more spots being pointed out.
