I don’t know if we’ve been on a bit of a backpack kick lately because of the back to school lines popping up or if it has just something we have been into lately, but here we go again. The other day we caught a glimpse of The Shadow Conspiracy‘s new collaboration backpack they did with Greenfilms that really caught our eyes in their new Back to School 2014 Lookbook. With so many riders getting into photography and filming, Shadow and Greenfilms teamed up to do a backpack designed for holding all of your camera gear that is not only practical, but looks awesome. The idea of a DSLR bag is by no means a new idea, but I believe this is one of the first bags made by a BMX brand which is rad. Let’s take a closer look…
Looking at the bag, it appears to be just a regular backpack which, for those of you with a lot of expensive gear, can find this as a big benefit to detour thieves who are looking for a bag with a “Cannon” logo or something on it just screaming that there is something valuable inside. The bag also has a pretty clean and simple design which is always a good thing, in our opinion, because bulky and crazy compartments everywhere is a downer. The bag itself is made from a water resistant PVC backed cotton canvas material which will help keep your gear dry when you get caught out in the rain unexpectedly.
The front of the bag has a small patch collaboration anchor logo with the teal accents that match the rest of the bag and then there’s a Shadow Conspiracy logo up top as well. Once again, the simplicity and clean logo not only looks good, but doesn’t scream “camera gear inside!” which is great. You can find a bottom pocket and clip strap on the right side that is designed to carry your tripod around without it hanging loose or have to be strapped down in other creative ways.
The padded backside of the bag features a Shadow Coffin design stitched into the bag with adjustable padded straps to keep your shoulders and back comfortable and in place while walking or riding with the bag. You can also find a woven logo for a little bonus aesthetic touch. There’s also a padded laptop compartment that runs along the back making it easy to travel with your gear or just get in a quick upload and edit session in.
The top pocket of the DSLR bag is insulated so you can keep items, like a sandwich or a snack, cool while you’re out on a filming or photo mission.
The lower compartment is for your odds and ends with pen and pencil holders, a little stash pouch and room for things you might want to carry along like a wallet or cell phone charger or something that you might not be able to make it without. This pocket also features the Shadow Paradise inner print that you can see more of below.
The inside of the bag is where the magic happens. Starting things off you will notice that custom Shadow Paradise inner print with the teal and black making the inside of the bag really pop with a unique look. You can find the DSLR compartments which all feature velcro edges so you can customize and adjust your compartments to the way you like to have your gear laid out. As you can see above, they have it laid out with 11 compartments which would be plenty for a body or two, a handful of lenses, flashes, batteries and chargers and more.
The front of the main compartment features a mesh storage pocket for odds and ends like cables, loose batteries, lens brush and cleaning kit. There are also 4 pouches with stretchy tops that can keep your extra gear that you use all in place as well.
Overall, the Shadow Conspiracy X Greenfilms DSLR bag covers a lot of the things photographers and filmers need so they can carry their gear around to the spots to get the job done. Sure, some of the pro’s out there with big lighting setups and multiple bodies and countless lenses won’t be able to get everything in one of these, but for most of us with more simple setups or the guys just getting into this field, it’s going to get the job done awesome.
