Matt has been the driving force behind these bio’s the last two weeks. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to work with Matt on a few different things in the past and it’s cool how we tossed ideas around and then got these bio’s together. I’m excited to see where he takes Coalition in the future. For now though, here’s his bio!

I know since you are TM you really shouldn’t play favorites… but if you had to?
Not possible, everyone brings some sort of kooky shit to the table and they all ride on that next level. We are all good friends since the Smoke and Mirrors trip and I couldn’t pick one if I had a gun to my head..
You have been team manager for the team for a couple months now. What’s been the most fulfilling part of the job?
The most fulfilling part for me is being able to watch the brand grow as I mediate between the team and our staff to bring together ideas and develop parts that make sense and last. I am also having a great time working with the guys to create content that is a little different from the normal web videos and facebook pics.
I know you guys did the Smoke and Mirrors tour just a few weeks back now, but what do you have planned for the team in 2010?
Joe Riley, Garrett Nilsson and I have been going out quite a bit to stack some clips. Shawn and David are killing it up in Portland for the summer, Tammy is working on some some crazy ideas down in SD, and Greg just got the camera sent up so he’ll be clipp’n as well. Of course Tony is doing what he does, so for the time being we are focusing on supporting the guys doing their thing.
When you aren’t busy keeping up with the team, you are usually pretty busy behind the lens. What kind of projects do you have in the works that you can tell us about?
Just cruising with Joe and Garrett for now. Stacking is the name of the game for me right now.
How important do you feel being versatile is in the BMX industry? It seems like you are capable of handling a lot of rolls.
It’s fun to find things that you are in to and integrating it into BMX. I always found videos and photos awesome as many kids do, but decided to push a bit further and see what I was capable of, I guess. It boils down to enjoying what you’re doing and wanting to create!
What’s the 2010 product line up looking like? Any fresh goods you can give us a hint at for Coalition?
Ya! We have a bunch of new stuff and some revisions. We have Joe Riley bars, with no holes in 8 and 8.25 being tested now as well as David Grant bars coming through, those are BIG. The new topload is the hot item for the team guys and some fresh seats as always. The new hubs are rad, we’ve been doing a lot of testing and everyone is getting real involved with the R&D trying to create a simple and clean design that functions well over time. You can check back to the Coalition site soon for a lot of product updates.
Some of your favorite riders you look to for inspiration?
Riding wise I look up to BF, Joe Rich, Vic Murphy, Dave Young and Edwin of course. The legends I guess.
What was the scariest moment in BMX for you?
Brain surgery!
What makes for a good night out for you?
Staying in, Daniel, coffee, a board game and maybe some bike video.
