Primate BMX – BMX Day 2017

December 13, 2017

The Primate BMX crew got around to uploading their video from BMX Day 2017…

It took a bit, but the Primate BMX guys finally got around to getting a video together from BMX Day 2017 back in September. We don’t see a ton of BMX videos coming out of Peru, but it’s safe to say they have a big and growing scene there! Here’s a look at what went down from the younger guys to a few of the old school guys that rolled through. They had hundreds of riders swarming the streets, making for some hectic traffic and good times.

“We leave you a complete summary of what was the day of the BMX in Lima, Peru this past September 23. An annual meeting between all generations of bikers and all their modalities united to manifest what it means to ride a 20-wheel bicycle. Enjoy!”

Colony BMX – Jack Kelly In California

December 12, 2017

Colony BMX coming through with a banger of a BMX video from Jack Kelly!

The crew over at Colony just sent through this fresh footage featuring Jack Kelly slaying spots while he was out in California this past summer. When you see Jack’s name pop up, you should know by now that there’s going to be some seriously rail destruction going on. Hit play to watch Jack put all four pegs, his pedals, cranks and tires to good use on every spot he came across on every spot he rode. This is nothing short of pure fire.

“ Jack Kelly’s banging new video that he filmed in California a few months back before tearing his ACL which has him laid up for a few more months. This entire video was filmed in just 2 weeks before the accident happened.

Filmed and edited by Cooper Brownlee.
Additional filming from Chris Bracamonte, Wolfgang Ray, Barney and Bobbie Altiser.

Johnny Atencio OFF The Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa

December 12, 2017

It looks like Johnny Atencio will no longer be riding for The Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa AM squad in 2018…

farewell.

A post shared by Johnny Atencio (@johnnyice_) on Dec 12, 2017 at 10:23am PST

Just when we found out that Tyler Fernengel and Jason Watts were OFF Haro, we scrolled a little further on Instagram and found out that Johnny Atencio will no longer be riding for The Shadow Conspiracy or Subrosa. Johnny had joined both teams back in 2015, and has been on the AM squad since. We’re not sure what spurred the decision, but we would imagine Johnny will be one of those riders to keep an eye on for 2018 because he’s been dropping some serious heat the past few years.

Tyler Fernengel and Jason Watts OFF Haro

December 12, 2017

The 2018 Sponsor shake ups begin with a serious bang… Tyler Fernengel and Jason Watts are no longer riding for Haro! Both riders have announced that they will be stepping down from the team after around 4 years on the team for both. Based off the Instagram posts, it sounds like it was their decisions to step down, we’re just not sure what spurred the decision.

Pretty crazy to say this but I have decided that I will no longer be riding for @harobmx. It was a dream come true and fun while it lasted. Some things have changed and I feel this is the best decision for me now. I want to thank @colinmackaybmx for making it into a family instead of a sponsor, but it just doesn’t feel right if we all aren’t together. Here’s to never looking back, not worrying about the future, and living in the moment. ❤️

Could we see more riders leaving the Haro team in 2018? Tyler does hint that “it just doesn’t feel right if we all aren’t together“… Tyler leaves his recently released signature TF frame behind with the decision.

End of an amazing adventure riding for Haro bikes as I've decided to no longer ride for @harobmx can't thank everyone enough at Haro for all the amazing times and help they have giving me over the last 4 years it was one hell of a time ???

How To Get Sponsored For BMX

December 12, 2017

Brant Moore goes through the ins and outs of how to get sponsored for BMX… With a few tips on how not to get sponsored.

There’s a ton of people out there that ride BMX that want to get sponsored. Some people out there just want free product, others want the perks like traveling and fun, and some of the people out there demand that the world owes them everything because their talent on a bike. This week Brant Moore decided to sit down and talk a little bit about how to get sponsored for BMX, while explaining the responsibilities that are expected as a sponsored rider from brands. Brant takes a pretty blunt approach to this one explaining why your “sponsor me” video is going to be a flop, what it actually means to be sponsored and what your responsibilities are, the different levels from flow to AM, Pro and more, why you shouldn’t DM brands on Instagram asking to get sponsored and more.

Now, this isn’t meant to completely crush your dreams, but it’s more or less to open your eyes to the reality of what it takes to become sponsored for BMX. If you’re willing to put in the work and the time, it’s always possible to get sponsored.

One thing Brant kind of touched on, but wasn’t super clear on is that it’s not all about how well of a rider you are. You could have a super deep bag of tricks, ride better than some pros and crush it when you ride a contest, that doesn’t entitle you to being sponsored. If you look around at all the different Pro teams out there, you will see that a lot of brands have teams that are pretty closely inline with their styles of riding, personalities and more. That’s because when a team goes on a road trip, they want a group of people that get along well and actually are friends. Nobody wants to be stuck in a van with somebody that sucks to be around for a week. So keep that in mind, too. Being a good person that is smart and a lot of fun to be around can be just as beneficial as being a really talented rider.

So, take a peek, get your dreams crushed, re-evaluate and then figure out your next steps… We would suggest just having fun on your bike and going on a trip with some friends!
