Six Things You Didn’t Know About FBM

March 24, 2015

steve-crandall-fbm-bmx

One misconception about BMX is that there is a lot of money floating around, when in all reality it’s quite the opposite. Two of the most important abilities a person or brand needs to have if they’re working in the industry is the ability to work with a small budget and how to handle situations when things completely fall to shambles unexpectedly. The guys at FBM have always been pretty transparent about their business model and situation and they just dropped some interesting news about a hurdle they’re currently going through. You can learn all about it over on their website. Between being down an important man, having to move their entire operation and pretty much everything else that could go wrong, they’re still psyched on things.

Sunday Bikes – Julian Arteaga Welcome + Bike Check

March 23, 2015

Sunday Bikes have just announced that Julian Arteaga will be repping their flow squad now with this bike check! We’ve seen a TON of footage from Julian over the past two years or so and the kid keeps getting better and better all the time! Expect good things to come from this in the future!

“All of us at Sunday are excited to welcome Julian Arteaga to the Sunday flow team. His close friend and fellow SoCal youngin Jacob Cable summed Julian’s riding up nicely: “He’s got one of the smoothest styles ever and makes everything look so good.” After seeing his videos for the past year and riding with him a bunch last week, I couldn’t agree more. Julian is a treat to watch ride, and he’s a positive dude to be around as well, so I think we did a fine job on this one. Oh, and his part in the upcoming Common video will surely not disappoint. Stoked to have him on board!

Michael Steingraeber – Blast From The Past

March 23, 2015

There’s no denying that BMX can be frustrating and as time goes on, you learn new tricks and like it or not, you forget some. We spotted this video on Flat Matters of Michael Steingraeber giving a few tricks he hasn’t linked together in nearly 13 years back together again! Take a look! Also, how old do you feel knowing that Hot In Here has been out for 13 years?

“So much to say here: I have been to riding for so many years, memory fails me, I confuse contests or forget them altogether. But I know 2002 was a great year for me contest wise. I used to do many tricks switch and I believe many riders remember me for that. My friend Calvin Tan recently asked me to do that again and I said it’s too hard, which it actually is. But I can still do a few of my old tricks, even if it’s shaky.
It was fun to challenge myself to do this one afternoon. And then I remembered stuff like this was once worth $US10,000 according to a few street riders. Fun times!
p.s.: Remember that song? Cologne Worlds 2002? I love it!

Fit Bike Co. – Cody Pollard Edit

March 23, 2015

Fit Bike Co. just dropped this new video from their Australian connect, Cody Pollard, who absolutely crushes parks, pools, trails and even a little street! Cody is more of a roaster with plenty of style versus a heavy bag of tricks and he’s definitely not scared to go big or take a heavy drop! Make sure you watch this whole video because that ender will get you wet.

Steadicam Curve GoPro Handle Review

March 23, 2015

steadicam-curve-gopro-5

With the popularity of GoPro cameras and other similar cameras in BMX, there’s no denying that people are always looking for ways to improve the overall quality to give it a somewhat professional look. Although GoPro cameras now have the capabilities to get some very high quality footage in the 4K range, they are still pretty compact and the footage can easily be ruined with a shaky hand. We recently were given the chance to try out the Steadycam Curve from Tiffen, which is their compact handle that is designed to keep that footage smooth when moving around with the footage. We have been playing with it for a little bit now and figured we would put together a little review.

GT Bicycles in Los Angeles

March 23, 2015

Ride BMX dropped this banger of a video from GT Bicycles featuring Rob Wise, Jeremiah Smith and Brian Kachinsky crushing it on the streets of Los Angeles! With a line up like this, you know there’s a lot of gold to see in this BMX video!

“GT has been making some moves as of late. First they brought on product guru Ben Ward as BMX brand manager, then they added Brian Kachinsky to the equation, turning the team into a stacked trifecta of Kachinsky, Jeremiah Smith, and Rob Wise. The dudes recently convened in LA for a week, effectively kicking off the beginning of this new era for GT.
