Mark Losey Launches BMXComps.com

January 5, 2015

bmx-comps

This is pretty rad. Mark Losey has been working on a new website called BMX Comps that takes a closer look at all of the major BMX contests of the year, compiles data and ultimately gives a better idea of which riders are really on it as far as contests go. Check out more below and then check out the site!

“Two years ago I put all of the different contest results I could find into a single spreadsheet. Seeing them all together seemed like they could be combined—somehow,” Losey said.

After getting suggestions and criticism from various organizers and riders, Losey settled on a system. “Each event’s points are determined by how many top pros were in the finals at that event. It’s not based on prize money, course, or anything else. This method allows every Pro event to count. It also encourages riders to compete in more contests.”

One thing Losey clarified is that this is not an official rank. “This system is highly subjective, as not every rider had a chance to compete in every event. It’s basically an organized snapshot of what happened in BMX contests over the past year.”

Losey added, “This has the potential to present riders with one less ambiguous way to qualify for events. If contest organizers were able to invite the top three, five, or ten from this ranking, they could still have enough room in their events to invite past winners, up-and-comers, sponsor obligations, etc.”

January 5, 2015

Austin Aughinbaugh is now doing it for The Gully Factory! Check out some heat he put together from some of the street missions he has been getting in lately to bring the news!

“Austin has been riding with our crew for almost 2 years now. We met him through DBG and since then he has came a long ways both as a rider and an individual. Him and Greg Moliterno have been working on this edit on and off for about the same time and it just happened to work out perfectly for his welcoming edit. Austin has also been putting in for 12:35 and at his rate, there is no doubt that he will come up with a full section.
Filmed and edited by Greg Moliterno
Additional filming : Brandon Begin & Francis Castro

Bruno Hoffmann Off Cinema Wheel Co.

January 5, 2015

bruno_hoffmann_by_ryan_fudger_600x

We didn’t see nearly the volume of sponsor changes that we figured we would see at the start of the year, but today an interesting bit of news dropped! Bruno Hoffmann is no longer riding for Cinema Wheel Co.! You can get the official word below from team manager, Will Stroud! Any guesses on who he will be joining? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE: Bruno Hoffmann on Eclat

“Today we are sad to announce Bruno Hoffmann has decided to part ways with Cinema (on good terms) to pursue other opportunities. Bruno has been constantly pushing the limits of technical street riding and freecoaster maneuvers and shows no sign of slowing down in the foreseeable future. We’re going to miss having him on Cinema trips and in the van making fun of Dan Lacey. Best of luck to our German friend and thanks for being part of the Cinema crew.“” — Will Stroud, Cinema TM & Filmer

It seems like Ohio goes kind of under the radar sometimes these days… There’s definitely a strong scene down there and this video Brenden Wargo put together called “Ohio Days” is a good reminder of that! Check out all 24 minutes of real solid park and street footage featuring a TON of Ohio’s finest by hitting that play button!

“After making a couple previous short mixes, I decided that a feature length “Ohio Days” video was needed. I then began filming on and off, in between other projects, and traveling. This is the end result. All footage was either filmed in Ohio or of riders from Ohio. Big thank you to everyone who helped keep me motivated, supported me and threw down and contributed for this video. I’m super happy with the final product and I hope you enjoy!!” – Brenden Wargo

Is it time for some fresh rubber on your bike? Have you given the new Vader tire from Volume Bikes a look yet? This tire was designed to be a lightweight, street option that will still give you plenty of grip on ramps, trails and whatever else you come across. The tire is made from a dual density rubber compound that increases the overall strength of the tire with a low profile V pattern along the center for less rolling resistance, deeper grooves along the sides for more traction while turning and micro-knurling throughout for improved grip.
