Through The Lens: Quick Chat with Brett Banasiewicz
This week I am proud to present an interview with Brett Banasiewicz. If you don’t know who Brett is, stop reading this immediately and go do some research. Once you take care of that, and get out from underneath the rock you have been living under, come back to this and check it out. I have known Brett for years now and have seen him come up in the crazy BMX world and rise straight to the top. I have been lucky enough to document Brett’s riding over the years at most major contests and it’s been obvious for a long time that Brett was ahead of his time. He was one of the youngest riders in the game for a while there and was holding his own against the rest of the BMX world. He has a huge fan following and although Brett has been dealing with the recovery process after his crash in 2012 he has been taking it all in stride and has the positive mindset of a true champion. His determination will inspire you to get out there and accomplish your goals. His focus and drive to get back to where he was is motivating to say the least and he has nothing but love for BMX. Photogallery: Texas Toast Jam 2013
Over the weekend, the 3rd annual Texas Toast Jam invaded Austin, Texas. Riders from all around the world made the voyage to this BMX mecca with nothing but good times in sight. Between the actual contests, the after parties all of the amazing people who were in town for the weekend and the weather holding out, the weekend was the perfect example of what BMX is all about — having fun.
After missing out the past two years, I decided there was no way in hell that I could possibly miss this one. I finally had things line up and I was able to make my first trip to Austin happen, and it was one of the best experiences I could have had.
I’m sure over the past few days you have seen a ton of coverage from the videos and photos that have surfaced. I quickly decided once I saw 20+ cameras out at all times, that I was going to make this trip a vacation and not about work. I took the slacker route and took my time to get my photos together instead of rushing to be the first one with coverage from the event.
After sifting through the 350+ photos I had on my memory card, I was able to narrow it down to 34 of my favorite photos I shot from the weekend where I compiled them into a photogallery for your viewing pleasure. Let’s take a peek!
Tenpack X Animal – Vancouver Summer Jam
Take a look at what went down during the Tenpack X Animal Summmer Jam they threw in Vancouver a few weeks back! It looks like there was plenty of awesome riding and good times going on!
“Back in August we hosted a jam at the Chuck Bailey Park in Surrey, BC with the help of Animal. Everyone had a blast riding, chilling, BBQing and playing some footdown. The crew, which consisted of Jeff Kocsis, Chris Silva, Taylor Elvy and Jeff Evans all hung out for a week in town around this time and managed to get some street and park sessions in all over Vancouver as well.
