Brian Tunney – A Year of Undertakers

November 11, 2020

Every month for the past almost two years Brian Tunney has delivered a new video giving us a look at what he’s been getting into during his flatland sessions over the course of a month. These videos are always worth a look from the riding to the music selection, so we always get stoked for it. One trick in particular has made an appearance in at some point in pretty much every video, the Undertaker, despite Brian’s apparent love / hate relationship with it. Over the past year he has done quite a few combos involving this trick, so he decided to put together a video looking back at all of them, ending up with a 9 minute video! If you’re a fan of flatland or just want to see how it’s done, this is worth a peek! Check it!

“On Oct. 30, 2019, I did an undertaker at my old riding spot in Redondo Beach, overlooking the International Pier. I was attempting to re-create the Bruce King undertaker sequence that ran in Freestylin’ Magazine (July 1987) many years ago, but I’m kind of lazy and my style of doing undertakers didn’t really mesh with the way I thought they were supposed to be done. So, the sequence re-creation went out the window and I spent a lot of time thinking about the trick over the next few months. I also spent a lot of time doing my own version of the undertaker, so much so that I accrued nine minutes of footage that is solely devoted to a trick invented in the late 1980s. This is every undertaker I did between Oct. 2019 and Oct. 2020. It’s also maniacal to compile these for a nine-minute flatland video and I realize that, but oh well.” – Brian Tunney

“Our USA AM addition wasted no time in delivering a heavy video part to officially welcome him to the crew. Logan drops hammer after hammer on the streets of Texas, this kid is just getting started…

Filmed & edited by Will Chappell.” – Wethepeople

BMX / DIRT JUMPER | Bootlegs & B-Sides ft. Francis Delapena

November 10, 2020

Maaaan, it’s been entirely too long since Francis Delapena has put out a new video. Here’s a look at what he’s been getting into this past year in this video filled with clips on his BMX bike and his big bike dirt jumper that looks right at home on ramps and street spots. As always, Francis delivers with some great riding, creative and entertaining filming and editing, and good vibes. Hit play and take a look! You won’t be disappinted.

“A little bike riding and some fits of random.

When I got a big BMX bike earlier this year, I thought it was just going to be an experimental side piece, but it ended up becoming a nine month affair. Many riders will say it’s actually an MTB, but I’ll argue it’s more like a 26” BMX bootleg with its own charm and appeal. Riding this thing felt a lot like discovering and falling in love with BMX all over again, and I am so thankful to have that feeling rejuvenated this far into my life. Here’s a little mix of clips from me playing around on it.

Brett Downs – 53

November 10, 2020

We’re not sure how we missed this one, but we just came across Brett Downs‘ video giving us a look at what he got into over the course of the past year (up to August). This starts out with a slideshow of photos from the year, then we get a look at a bunch of great flatland, park and street riding. Brett rolled into 53 years of age like a champ, still sending it on all his bikes, still going upside down and laying down plenty of dialed moves. It’s been awesome seeing so many guys still riding great even with some age behind them! Hit play and take a look!

“All this was filmed 8/2019-8/2020.” – Brett Downs

BSD – The Revolution Hub

November 9, 2020

BSD have released their new Revolution hub utilizing the Planetary internals from Free Night.

It looks like Free Night guys have begun licensing out their patented design on the Planetary Freecoaster hub they released earlier this year. BSD have released their new Revolution Hub utilizing the Planetary Clutch internals that make for a freecoaster that works like a cassette. This design has been something that multiple designers have tried to figure out for years (and failed at), and now it looks like it’s going to be widely available in BMX after this design fixed all the flaws in other designs. BSD is the first to produce their own hub with the design, and we would imagine we’ll be seeing others similar to how the KHE freecoaster internals are in damn near every freecoaster out right now. Either way, this is pretty awesome to see. Hit play for a quick promo video, then learn more about BSD’s hub down below!
