Quicky: Alex Magallan

It has been a little while since Alex has been on his bike. A few months back he put a stress fracture in his arm and has been taking it easy since. He recently started cranking around again so I figured with that going on and his section in the Owned video that is finally available, it would be an ideal time to catch up and find out what’s new. Let’s see what he had to say…

Name: Alex Magallan

Location: Middle Tennessee

Sponsors: Sunday Bikes

Years riding: 16

How are things going with Sunday? It looks like your signature complete went over well. Any more signature goods, trips or anything like that you are looking forward to?
All is well. It’s great working with Jim C. at Sunday. Amazing to be a part of such a unique company. Also have a lot of respect for the team as well. Good mix of riders and personalities, which is key when choosing a team. All the Sunday cats seemed to be hurt lately. I’m hoping this new year will start off good for everyone, so we can do travels as a whole. Theres also talk of more signature completes in the works and possibly grips.

What’s happened with DuFFS? I just noticed you didn’t list them as a sponsor…
Duffs is Duffs.. nothing new really. They did some cuttin’ back on the team. Supposably there could be some new faces on board and new designs.

Does this mean you have some other sponsors in the works?
I’ve got some other shoe deal in the works. Low key. Can’t wait!

So you are just getting healed up. How did the recovery go? Are you back to full-strength yet or are you still taking it easy?
Recovery was fast. Couple months off the bike. I ended up pressure fracturing the end cap of my forearm bone. I’m pedaling around again. Just trying to get back in the swing of things.

I’d imagine you have been psyched on the Owned video finally being done. How was that experience for you?
Yeah man! I’m really excited to see the whole video. It was a honor working with Stew and to be apart of the first Owned full length. It’s available for pre order now. ( Hit Props or Dan’s Comp to get a copy!)

Any predictions on whose part will be your favorite from the Owned video? It’s looking real promising…
That’s a hard one to call. A lot of creative riders on the line up. Tom V. and Foley should be pretty inspiring to go pedal.

Other than that, can we expect any fresh edits or video parts in the near future?
Nothing as of now. I always try to keep my mind occupied with some kind of riding project. I’m sure something will be out before too long.

What’s your travel schedule looking like for the rest of the year? Any plans of heading more south once Nashville starts getting chilly?
Yeah, I got a west coast trip in the works around the beginning of December. Dont think I am gonna do another winter in Austin. Gonna switch it up a bit and keep the options open.

What have you been up to lately with all of your down time from the broken arm? Any new hobbies you have picked up on?
Doing anything and everything fun. Got a pretty serious lady now. She is amazing. We always get into different adventures. I try to read and dabble with drawing when I get in the mood. Being outdoors is something I enjoy too. Turtles and Bass.

So it sounds like the cast on the arm didn’t effect the luck with the ladies? I feel like it had to be a real good ice breaker for you.
Actually they didn’t even cast your boy up! The doctors put me in a sling thankfully. They wanted me to move it as much as possible. Heat/ice/elevate life.

What’s something about yourself that might surprise people?
Im in a savage rap group called Brutal Boyz! Lil spooky and Benny Bamboozle!

What’s the last song you heard, movie you watched and website you visited?
Cory Branan- It gets the worst at night(lucero cover). Thor. Doobybrain.com

Any plans for what you hope 2012 will have in store for you?
Good health and keep busy with travels, riding, living, and staying positive.

Anything else you want to say?
Thanks to Kurt and The Union for doing this interview. Appreciate it.
