Quicky: Robbie Morales on the Cult Demos

July 21, 2011

With the Cult/Vans shoe and grip collaboration happening, Robbie Morales and Dakota Roche headed out to the Vans Skateparks to meet up with riders and show the new products off. I got to catch up with Robbie at the Orlando demo, where the turn out was crazy. Let’s see what he had to say…

Did you expect that kind of turnout?
So psyched on the turnout. Riders came from all over Florida and there were plenty of shredders. It’s crazy the level of riding during a session, add in good vibes and it’s 100% BMX…

How good does it feel to bring smiles to peoples faces be able to see it first hand by doing demos like this?
That’s the best part. At the end of the day we are all riders and being able to relate and shred together is a big reason we try to come through. I still get psyched when I see other riders and definitely want experience new scenes and spots.

How has the response been so far on the Cult/Vans shoes and grips?
Really good, the shoes are perfect for riding and chilling. Quality materials and craftmanship combined with a good looking aesthetic makes this collab a must have. The grip is a no brainer. The ODI rubber with the waffle sole feels amazing, like shoes for your hands, haha.

I heard a kid try to swindle you into giving him the grips right off your bike, did he get the grips? Any good stories from either demo?
That kid was awesome, he didn’t get mine but I took care of him, haha. At the Cali one the product toss got hectic and I definitely checked a couple of kids who were grabbing too much stuff, all in good fun though…

 Any shout outs?
Definitely want to thank VANS and the employees at both parks. The support they show BMX is much needed, Jerry Badders and Sean Methvan for making shit happen. All the riders who came out and had a blast and the CULT/VANS team riders who did what they do best. On to the next one….
