Quicky: Shawn McIntosh

It has been a little while since we have caught up with Shawn McIntosh, and between a whole slew of signature products, a banger of a section in the Fit Bike Co. “Holy Fit” DVD, recently making a trip over to the U.K for the 4Down One Up video contest and making the move back to Oregon from California, we figured it would probably be a good time to catch up and see what was new with the guy! Let’s see what he had to say!

Name: Shawn Mac

Current Location: Grants Pass, Oregon

Sponsors: Fit Bike Co., Lotek Shoes, Primo productsThe Trip , Goods BMX, Br4ss, FP Insoles, Molly Water, ŁIVIN

Years Riding: as far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.

Shawn! How’s it going? It’s been a while! How’s the weather in the Northwest? Is it starting to dry up?
Yeah, totally. I just got sun burned yesterday. 94 degrees. Did we skip winter this year? Wtf?

How are things going with Fit these days? Do you have any new projects in the works with them that you can tell us about as far as signature products and everything go?
Well, as you may know, I have signature frame, bars, pedals and complete bikes ranging up and down to meet your price range. But, I’m working on a new frame. Who knows when it will be out though….

They recently added to the already stacked team. I’d imagine you guys will be getting out on the road at some point here soon. Any trips with the team you know of yet?
Yeah, I’m pumped on the new additions. Everyone deserved it for sure. Let’s hope the boss has something in the works for travel… “cough cough”

Your section in “Holy Fit” was absolute fire. How has the reaction been for you? Any crazy kids hitting you up?
Haha, thanks man! It’s been good, all the homies are pumped and that’s really all I care about. Doing it for the pure rush and adrenaline! But, yeah, the kids are always gunna be trying to say something aren’t they!!

How about things with Primo? Any new projects cooking with those guys at all? I feel like your signature seat was just released in a Tripod version?
Yeah, the seat just dropped and now I’m working on a signature grip, so stay tuned for that cause I think it’s about to sprout this spring.

Any travel plans or videos in the works with those guys you can tell us about?
I’ll be working on some web stuff… Grip promo frame promo but nothing really in the works so I’m up for any new projects if anyone’s down lets dooo it…..

Your signature shoe from Lotek dropped a little while back. How psyched are you on how they turned out? I know that one with the camo looks so damn good.
Couldn’t of asked for a better shoe. So Kush it’s like I’m walking on a dreamy cloud, hahah. But, you like the Camo too. They look so fresh, right?

Is it weird for you seeing kids running your parts or shoes? I feel like that would kind of be a constant trip when out riding.
It’s always a good feeling seeing people like my shit and supporting my product. Never thought I’d be here in a position like that but I am and I’m loving all my supporters!! Thanks guys!

It looks like you recently made the move back up to Portland after living in California for a while. What lead to the decision to make that move? Couldn’t handle all the sun?
I like to bounce back and forth between hectic Los Angeles and the laid back country life. Helping out around the farm and seeing the family and my friends I grew up with is everything.

Do you have any trips in the works or just trips in general you are hoping to make soon? We’re assuming we’ll see you crushing it at Simple Session again?
Actually I don’t. Everybody seems kinda just chilling this year. I haven’t heard from any of my sponsors about trips at all, so I’m free as a bird. Simple Session didn’t work out either. I wanted to go but the trip is so expensive and the travel is long with a short period of time over there, it’s just not really worth it to me. The parties are fun over there, but let’s be honest, I ain’t no contest rider, haha!

You recently got back from a trip over to Hastings, England to film for the 4Down One Up contest, right? How did that all go? Are you pretty psyched with what you, Phil Martin and Miles Rogoish were able to film?
I had such a fun time over there meeting Phil and getting to know that lil’ park. But I think everything went smooth. We had a lot of fun working on that project. Shouts to Creasy for the invite! And you guys will just have to see when it drops. Vote team MAC, haha!

Other than that 4Down One Up video, can we expect any fresh footage of you to surface any time soon?
When ever Jeff Z drops the “Door Step” video. I got some nuggs for that DVD, but who knows the release date on that. But, no, I’ve been on a filming hiatus since the Fit video dropped.

What have you been getting into when you aren’t riding these days? Any new hobbies or anything filling your time?
Since I’ve been home, the homies got me into dirt bikes. Such a rush having all that weight under you with all that power. Jumping those make the BMX feel light as fuck!

What’s the last song you heard and movie you watched?
“It’s Been A Long Days Night” by The Beetles. And I just got done watching “Idiocracy”.

How can people keep up with you these days?
Follow me at @shawnmacduh

Do you have any shout outs or thanks?
Shouts to all the homies that support me. You know who you are. All my sponsors for making sure my bike and gear is always on point. Cheers!

Anything else you want to say?
Just a public service announcement, haha. Don’t be scared of life, cause death is a given… All you have left to do is… Make sure you’re ŁIVIN!
