It’s never a good day when we get word that BMX lost a rider. Today, we found out that Pascal Lafontaine has lost his battle with cancer after a very hard fought 5 year battle that took his leg early on. As many of you know, Pascal wasn’t going to let cancer keep him from his love of BMX and he actually produced one of the most amazing BMX videos in 2019 (above) showing just what he was able to throw down despite having an amputated leg. We’ve watched Pascal grow as an incredible rider since we first started posting about him back in 2012, and it’s clear that he loved BMX and wasn’t giving that up despite having to fight hard the past few years to keep rolling. Rest in peace, Pascal! You and your riding will never be forgotten, and you were an inspiration to so many riders around the world!
“My son Pascal Lafontaine left us yesterday afternoon. He left peacefully surrounded by his family. He fought his cancer with exceptional and extraordinary courage. He continued to receive treatment despite the great fatigue and pain that would cause him. He didn’t want to leave this life that he would hate so much.
We, his family, would like to thank all the people who have given Pascal words of encouragement and support during his last five years of fighting. Let’s remember that due to his cancer, Pascal suffered an amputation of his leg in 2015. He would have been 28 years old on July 20th.” – Pierrette Tetreault
