Since 5050 Skatepark opened up in July, it has been getting plenty of attention. Matt Brown recently caught up with the owner, Ed Pollio to find out what it took to make this place happen. This is awesome.
“Ed Pollio has long been a pillar of the Staten Island BMX scene. He has a certain ability to get people motivated and make things happen. He jokingly refers to himself as the BMX version of Tony Robbins. If you live in the NYC metropolitan area, you may have seen Ed once or twice on the local news lobbying at town hall meetings to have the Ben Soto memorial skate park rebuilt. After the city bulldozed the Ben Soto park last year, Ed and his girlfriend Angelica decided to open their own skatepark. 5050 has been up and running since July. Although it sustained some minor damage from flooding during Hurricane Sandy, the Staten Island scene came together and got the park running in only three days.” – Matt Brown / ESPN BMX

Head on over to the Animal website to find out what’s new with Mark Gralla an his plans now that the warm weather has headed south for the winter.

It’s Friday, you woke your ass up way to early for Black Friday and I know you’re looking for something good to start your weekend off right. That’s why we’ve got a fresh photogallery for you to check out. Our friend down in Australia, Kristopher Humphries, sent through 14 of his latest photos that he shot for you to take a look at. So kick back and take a peek!
A wise photographer that goes by the name of Rob Dolecki once told me “You don’t need the best camera gear to take a good photo if you’re a good photographer”. I think this rule applies to Will Evans who, despite having all of his gear stolen, was able to produce this damn good edit with a Super 8 camera and some iPhones for Wethepeople. This is one you won’t want to miss for sure!
“This is what remains from a trip to France and Germany with Wethepeople team riders Jason Phelan, Mike Curley and Fooman.
Jason, Mike, Foo and Will Evans had been on the Dawn promotional tour with Frenchies and Maxime Chevron. If you haven’t seen the afore mentioned edit here’s the link vimeo.com/52059461
The plans was after the tour had finished the lads would travel through France, up to Cologne to film a web edit.
In Paris some thieving £*$£’s stole virtually all of Will’s camera equipment, leaving the guys with a super 8 camera and 4 iphone’s.
This is the result”
