Well, here’s something we didn’t expect to be tagged in on Instagram. There’s a new company called BMX Grind that has just released their first product, which just so happens to be a bottom bracket bash guard! The BMX Grind might look familiar, because Ruben Alcantara and Fly Bikes developed a product similar to this a number of years ago but ultimately ended up abandoning the idea after it didn’t take off. GT Bicycles and KORE also released a similar guard years before Fly Bikes did as well. However, the idea has been brought back to life and released by these guys. Check out the BMX video above featuring Adrian Pinon and Jesse Sisco to get a look at just how it works! This guard is available for $54.00 in the BMX grind Webstore.
After that, we want to hear from you in the comments! Let us know what you think about this? We’re curious if the patent they have applied for will go through since it’s similar to past designs.
“Our patent pending BMX Grind allows riders to grind sideways and stall right below their bottom bracket and sprocket. BMX has seen attempts at this in the past, but nothing designed specifically for modern day grinds and whips, and nothing that lets you grind like this! If you ride with a 25t or 28t sprocket, the BMX Grind is adjustable in several ways, and fits almost all BMX Frames: round tube, oval, tear drop, it doesn’t matter. The BMX Grind is made from the best materials available and is incredibly strong, despite only weighing 1.3 pounds. Order your Grind today and be one of the first! *Product featured in pictures and video is a prototype. Final product may vary in size, shape, function and/or color. *Supplies are limited.”
