Zach Rogers Interview

June 17, 2014

Growing up, you tend to see the world as a kid that has the time and energy to hang out and ride all day with these older people all around that work without really noticing the people in that transitional period from all the time in the world to not enough time. When you start getting older and working becomes a necessity, you find yourself in that transitional period where you are doing as much as possible to juggle work, school, riding and everything that comes along with this whole “life” thing. One person who clearly knows how to handle this balancing act like a champion is Zach Rogers. Between finishing up school, crushing some intense licensing tests, traveling Europe, riding, filming and a ton of life, he was able to find some time to take on a bunch of questions about everything going on with him lately. Let’s see what he had to say!

Photogallery: X-Games 2014 – Austin, Texas

June 14, 2014

IMG_9378_600x

As I write this, exactly one week ago today a ton of people were scorching in the sun down in Austin, Texas taking part of the X-Games that, for the first time in 11 years, had found itself outside of Los Angeles. The venue was massive, dirt was welcomed back as part of the events, the park and street courses were getting proper use, mega ramp continued to be huge and over 100,000 people took part in the weekend. Needless to say, it was a busy weekend for BMX. Although I personally had some other obligations for being there, I was still able to pull out my camera and shoot a few photos during the events and ended up with some 400+ photos to go through, edit and pick out for this photogallery. After all was said and done, that 400+ was dwindled down to 44 of my personal favorite shots of the weekend that you can check out in the link below! Take a peek!

The Future of BMX

May 12, 2014

the-future-of-bmx-600x

If you pay close enough attention to BMX, you can always see trends coming and going. Those trends have been the evolution of the sport from the riders to the bikes all the way to the videos and photos you’re seeing every single day. One of the biggest trends we’ve been following as of late is how brands are keeping up with the constant changes and ways to attract new riders to BMX. Within that, we’ve been watching one thing in particular that has been happening to BMX lately that has been pretty mind blowing; the age of riders riding at higher levels at very young ages. There have been a handful of factors involved in this fairly new phenomenon and we figured we would take some time to see what has lead to all of this.

Originals: April 2014

May 1, 2014

originals-april2014_600x

Man, time has been flying! Fortunately for a lot of us, were finally seeing some warmer temps and getting to the outdoor sessions again. April is always a crazy month because it is when we see a lot of change with spring coming in and everything. This last month in particular was pretty crazy for The Union because we literally dropped an Original feature every day during the week except for the 17th and Sunday’s (The Daily Section still gets updated on Sunday’s). We figured with 25 Original features, there’s a good chance you guys missed a few. We have gone through and compiled a list with links to each one for you to give a look incase you missed something or wanted to check it out again!
