Ode to Duff Grove

January 27, 2014

The Northern Embassy dropped this new video paying tribute to a spot we’ve seen dozens of times in the past, Duff Grove! It might not be much, but it sure looks like it’s a good time to ride! Check out some footage from a few familiar faces last summer!

“In the middle of the city of Toronto, known for its street riding, lays Dufferin Grove Park, or Duff Grove as it is commonly known. Full with a community garden, bone fire pits, and a Thursday evening farmer’s market, it also contains a make shift wooden park that bike riders and skateboarders make the best of. Certain times of the season it may be in total disrepair, and other times it may seem like it is running smoothly. Made of mostly donated ramps (one of which is from us) and rails, the community pitches in where they can to keep this place going.
It’s not a glamorous spot by any means, but it is where you will often find riders looking for a mellow session without having to pedal far, hanging out with their friends without much concern. From locals to riders visiting from out of town that day, it’s our warm up spot, meet up spot, or just where we unwind after a work day. It’s probably the one spot I ride the most all summer long, and some evenings I would pull out my camera from my pocket and try to film a bit of what an average night there is like. Check out this short video of assorted stuff I filmed this past summer with Chijioke Okafo, Trent Barker, Chris Cadot, Greg Henry, Lee Dennis, Brandon Webster, and Chris Silva.

MacNeil – Brandon Webster Welcome Edit

January 22, 2014

Brandon Webster – Welcome to MacNeil BMX from MACNEIL BMX on Vimeo.

Brandon Webster recently parted ways with Hoffman Bikes and speculation ran wild about where we was headed to. If you have a keen eye and watch Justen Soule’s “The Nocturnal Vol. 2” edit, you probably already figured it out, but now it’s official: Brandon Webster is on the MacNeil team! He goes back to Joyride 150 to put down yet another dialed edit to celebrate the news.

The Nocturnal Vol. 2

January 21, 2014

Hell… Yeah! Justen Soule dropped this new video and you better believe it’s an absolute MUST SEE filled with bangers! Hit play NOW!

“Several years ago we shot the first Nocturnal video at Joyride 150 bike park with Drew Bezanson, Will Fisher and Mike Gray. The idea was simple, turn all the overhead park lights off and use only video lights to get a video that looked a little different from the typical indoor park edit. Fast forward a couple years and we’re following up the original video with a second volume, this time in Joyride’s street plaza. Lots of shredding from Drew Bezanson, Mike Gray, Brandon Webster, Ben Kavanagh and Dillon Lloyd in this one, don’t miss it!
You can check out the original Nocturnal video here: LINK
Huge thank you goes out to Joyride 150, without the after hours sessions we couldn’t have made this one happen. joyride150.com

Brandon Webster Off Hoffman Bikes

January 5, 2014

Screen-Shot-2013-07-12-at-5.40.09-PM_600x

It looks like Brandon Webster has decided to part ways with Hoffman Bikes for a new opportunity. The press release below mentions an opportunity with a brand based out of Canada, which leads me to believe he’s going to be riding for Macneil… or BMXfu… But I’d assume Macneil. We’ll be hearing more soon enough.

“Hoffman Bikes says goodbye to team member Brandon Webster as he embarks on a new era of his life. As he is graduating high school this year, he has chosen another opportunity in his home country of Canada to continue his career in BMX.
“There’s no way I would be riding at the level I am now without Mat’s help and inspiration. Thank you for everything you have done for me,” Webster said.
We wish him the best and will support his journey through the BMX family along the way.
The Hoffman Bikes Team includes: Mat Hoffman, Kevin Robinson, Seth Kimbrough, Zack Warden, Ben Hennon, Morgan Wade, Jeremy Hrabal, Mikey Babbel, Dylan Sparkman, Trent McDaniel, Matt Wilhelm, Art Thomason, Jon Taylor, Kevin Jones and Will Love.

Austin Texas House Park Session #2 Edit

October 21, 2013

Here is a fast paced, action packed edit from Austin’s public park. Short and sweet, it hits hard and ends with a bizarrely rad trick that I sure wouldn’t want to try!

FTL X 217 BMX – LA Clippers

October 14, 2013

Whether you would have known it or not just watching this video, this new one from the Follow The Leader guys and the 217 BMX crew is a perfect example of what BMX is all about. Both crews ended up in Los Angeles and ultimately ended up bumping into each other at a hotel which lead to them spending a few days cruising spots and stacking clips for this trip, and creating a really good friendship. Between the clips and good times that happened by accident almost, this is why we travel. Enjoy!

“Stack’n clips is all we do!
This edit contains some of the best AMs in bmx today but don’t expect all bangers. This isn’t that type of edit. Instead this is what a vacation for people that go hard all year long looks like. We didn’t take filming seriously and rarely brought the cameras out, choosing to ride and have fun over turning it into what some consider a task. With a crew this heavy, you know everyone would be gettin clippers any time the cameras came out. The idea was to have a great time and if we got stuff, cool, if not who cares?
This started for us with Mitchell winning a spot in Red Bull Phenom this summer, we got flown out to Los Angeles for a week at the end of July during X-Games and Red Bull put us up in the Millennium Biltmore in downtown LA. During check-in we happened to meet “the Bill’s” (Perry and Malkotsis) who were on their own trip out in Cali for a couple weeks. They weren’t able to stay in the room they had originally planned so we figured why not share our room with them. What followed would be not only one of the top 5 bmx trips I’ve been on but one of the best weeks of my life. Everything worked out perfectly from the time we left for the airport to the moment we pulled back into my drive making the entire experience nothing but amazing. This edit is comprised of footage the two Billy’s and I collected during a few times we happened to take the cameras with riding. We found ourselves riding pretty much all day and night the entire time. There are some guest clips some of the other Phenom dudes and some fellow midwestern cats that we also met by pure chance. Hope you enjoy the edit and checkout ftlbmx.com and 217bmx.com for more content from both crews. Thanks one last time to Red Bull and all the people we shared memories with in the wild wild west.
Riders- Mitchell Kent, Billy Perry, Bub Finney, Billy Malkotsis, Nahuel Nieto, Dan Kruk, Matt Lough, Brandon Webster.

Red Bull Phenom Highlights

September 12, 2013

It’s crazy to think the X-Games and the Red Bull Phenom contest went down a month ago already… Here’s a rad video Red Bull dropped giving you a look at some of the highlights from the top 3 during the event. I’d imagine this will be an annual thing based on how well the contest went!

“After searching through 105 submitted videos from 24 different countries, the six most talented riders were chosen to show their skills on the official X-Games parcour in Los Angeles to find out who would be the Red Bull Phenom 2013.
The riders that made it on the podium were:

1. Felix Prangenberg (GER)
2. Brandon Webster (CAN)
3. Grant Germain (USA)

Brandon Webster Interview

It’s crazy how many damn good riders are coming out of Canada lately. Not to say that hasn’t happened in the past, but it just seems like there’s been a whole new round of guys that have been on fire lately. One of those guys would be Brandon Webster who has been lighting up the internet with video after video of him just crushing spots from Joyride 150 to Austin, Texas.
It’s no surprise he recently found bumped up to a spot on the Hoffman Bikes pro team, so we figured it would be a real good time to get to know just who this kid from Canada is since I can imagine we’ll be seeing plenty more of him in the future! Check out what he had to say!
