It’s that time of the week for Brant Moore to do his Tech Tip video. This time around he teaches us how to use a thread die to fix an axle that has had the threads stripped. This requires a few tools that you can find links to below. This is a great tip for anyone who is rough on their axles, and don’t like buying new axles all the time. Take a peek!

“Fixing threads can seem like an impossible task, especially when your axle nut wont even come off.
However, with the proper tools it can be a very easy task to complete. With a 14mm x 1mm thread cutting die, and a handle you can have your axle looking and feeling brand new again.

In this video I demonstrate how to clean up and fix the threads on a male bmx axle.

Anyone that has rode BMX probably remembers how intimidating it was when you first learned how to drop in on a quarterpipe. The thought of rolling over the coping and into the transition, even if it was little ramp, seemed a lot bigger than it actually was. This is one of those tricks that is more mental over physical, and once you get over the fear it becomes very easy. Brant Moore put together this how to video showing you how to drop in on a BMX bike with plenty of examples and tips on how to get it done. “Starting out riding bmx and rolling up to a skatepark can be extremely intimidating.
Chances are that you have a prefab skatepark near by with ramps very similar to these.
As a beginner, the idea of dropping in on a ramp might be a very scary one. I’m here to tell you that it is a very easy task that doesn’t have to be as scary as it seems.

This video is your guide to dropping in for the first time covering the basic approach and prerequisites to dropping in as well as giving examples throughout.

Once you master dropping in, you are ready to move on to jumping a spine ramp!

When you’re just starting out riding BMX, or just riding ramps in general, learning how to jump a spine is pretty tricky. It’s not necessarily super hard, but it is a little bit of a mental hurdle to get past. Here’s a video where Brant, and two others that showed up at the park, gives you a bunch of tips and examples on how to jump a spine on a BMX bike. Hit play, take it all in, grab your bike and send it over the nearest spine ramp you can find!

Chances are there is a pre fab skatepark with a smaller spine close by to most people starting out and while it might look extremely scary, a small spine is one of the easiest scary obstacles to tackle.
