Here it is. Vice Sports just dropped part 1 of Nigel Sylvester’s interview giving us a little insight into his life and how he got to where he is now. Although we’ve all heard Nigel’s story, this one is a little different and we learn and see a few things you probably didn’t know, like that his mom had cancer and that was a huge changing point in his life. Hit play and take it all in.
“Nigel Sylvester might be BMX’s most recognizable figure, but his life and career are anything but typical of the sport. With several major endorsements, a clothing line and riding videos featuring the likes of French Montana and Pharrell, he has taken his brand far beyond the bike and garnered criticism for it along the way. Although he’s constantly reminded of his presence in a predominately white sport, Nigel has injected his unique personality into BMX and found unparalleled success doing it. In Part 1, we go to Jamaica, Queens to see the people and places that shaped Nigel into the person and rider that he is. Check back next week for Part 2. ” – Vice Sports

Did you catch that crazy curved wall ride that Erik Elstran and Luc Legrand did the Grand Belgrade Hotel video that dropped the other day? Well, here’s a behind the scenes look at that spot with some bonus footage. You can also read about the story behind the spot over on the DIG website!
“Belgrade is pretty much curved wall ride heaven and that’s part of the reason why I was really happy to bring Luc Legrand an Erik Elstran, two of my favourite riders, to Belgrade for a week of creative street madness last summer for the Grand Belgrade Hotel video. At first, their riding styles may seem completely different but they both shred on their bikes in a different way to what’s fashionable right now… and they’re really nice guys.
Luc had already been to Belgrade twice before and knew some really good local spots. Actually, he once pulled a crazy wallride down some stairs there that made one of the best ever covers of Soul Magazine. And that’s where we were headed…” – Hadrien Picard

The winter is always rough because you sometimes can’t ride what you really want, but sometimes you are still lucky enough to have a spot that is dry and has a few good things to ride. Adrian Sendyk over in Poland spent some time at the Ghetto Park putting his pegs to work to help pass the colds months a little quicker!
Yesterday we dropped a photogallery from the La Ultima Street Jam in Barcelona, now today we have some footage Bryan Novak collected from the day for you to check out! Seriously can’t believe the massive turnout this had!
