NORA Cup 2020 – Reader’s Choice Rider of the Year Nominees

Here’s the last (I think) category for NORA Cup 2020 Nominees! The Reader’s Choice for Rider of the Year! These top five riders were selected by the fans, and we honestly weren’t quite sure who to expect on this list with soooooo many amazing riders to choose from these days. The list is heavy on the streets, but each of these are definitely deserving of the nomination. Who will take the win? That’s the real question now! Wethepeople “Out of Line” Premiere Trailer

The full “Out of Line” video from Wethepeople is dropping August 22nd online for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They have 4 different premieres for Youtube coming so that everyone can enjoy it at a reasonable time. The video will feature riding from Felix Prangenberg, Dillon Lloyd, Dan Kruk, Jordan Godwin and more of the squad. This one has been in the works for two years and somehow they managed to keep the VX running. After the premieres, the video will be available on DVD and a digital download so you can enjoy it again and again!

“OUR FIRST EVER FULL-LENGTH VIDEO (ETC) WAS FILMED USING THE ICONIC SONY VX1000 WAY BACK IN 2004. FAST-FORWARD TO 2018 AND WE DECIDED TO START A NEW PROJECT USING THE TRUSTY VX ONCE MORE.
AT THE TIME WE FELT LIKE WE WERE TAKING ON A HUGE TASK – BUT HERE WE ARE THOUGH, TWO YEARS LATER AND IT WASN’T EVEN THAT BAD. WE USED AROUND 100 TAPES IN TOTAL, CLOCKED THOUSANDS OF MILES IN THE VAN AND MANAGED TO FLY AROUND THE WORLD A FEW TIMES JUST BEFORE THE WORLD ITSELF LOCKED DOWN WITH A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. IT WASN’T THE ENDING WE ASKED FOR, BUT AS DEADLINES GO IT WAS PRETTY ABRUPT.

It’s always interesting to hear what riders influence other riders and how. Dan Kruk sat down to talk about his favorite rider, Jeff Klugiewicz, and how much he was influenced growing up with Jeff as the local pro that was there to push Dan to become the rider he is today. This is definitely a rad pick since Jeff has done so much for BMX as a rider and a dude putting on events, filming videos and more. Hell, even Jeff had an influence on why this website exists today. The Wethepeople team have been putting in work and stacking clips for a new full-length video called “Out of Line” that should be dropping sometime soon! Majority of Team Leaves Madera

Here’s some news we’re sure a bunch of you have already come across by now, but the majority of the Madera team have decided to part ways with the brand after Sean Morr came forward with details from a team trip in 2012, and his experience with riding for the brand, that shares his experience with racism that you can read about below. Team manager Mike Hinkens was fired after the details came to light. As of today, Erik Elstran, Dan Kruk, Jake Seeley, Grant Castelluzzo, Taylor Thompson, Jeff Dowhen, Mike Stahl, Isaiah Johnson and Jesse Romano have all since stepped down from the team after hearing Sean’s experience on the trip and with the brand as a whole. You can view their Instagram posts below as well! At this time, the Madera website is down, and we expect to see changes in the future. More importantly, check out Sean’s words and really understand it, because that is what is important.

Madera Sacramento

You can always count on the Madera squad to deliver with dialed riding and good times. Here’s a new mix from some time the whole team spent cruising spots around Sacramento, California! It’s pretty wild that we don’t see a TON of footage coming from this place, considering it looks like there’s no shortage of amazing spots. Hit play to watch these guys slay what they came across in this 9 minute edit loaded with goodness.
