Animal House: Goodbye Jam – More BMX Videos

A few weeks back, Daniel Dhers announced that he would be closing the doors of the Animal House in Greenville and opening a training facility a little ways outside of Greenville. Before he shut things down, he wanted to throw one more jam for everyone to have a good time at. This is the video giving you a look at what went down over the weekend at the Goodbye Jam!

“Daniel Sandoval, Daniel Dhers, Josh Perry, Rob Armour, and more pay respect to one of the most iconic parks in BMX history with a final jam. Insane riding and good times.“

It looks like Daniel Dhers has decided to shut down the Animal House, which he took ownership from Dave Mirra a few years back. Daniel plans on re-opening a new park outside of Greenville. However, before the doors close for the last time, it sounds like there’s going to be one last banger of a contest to go down! You can find out all the info below!

“The Goodbye Jam &
Daniel Dhers Action Sports Complex
Press Release: September 29th, 2013

The weekend of October 26th and 27th, 2013 I will be hosting a Goodbye Jam at the Animal House in Greenville, NC as I prepare for the next chapter of my life and the opening of my first ever Action Sports Complex in Holly Springs, NC. This pro/am contest will celebrate the ending of an era, in one of the greatest facilities that has ever existed in BMX, and the beginning of a new one.

This Goodbye Jam will be the last opportunity for all riders, pro or am, to enjoy the infamous Animal House in Greenville, NC. We will begin breaking down the ramps shortly after the contest. I will also host a much needed riders meeting, for all pros, to propose and discuss some ideas to help improve our current judging and scoring system, as well as, our contest format which has been so controversial in the past. Ultimately, we will present our ideas to the sports organizers for contests worldwide to help improve our sport and have a more refined judging/scoring system that will allow BMX to grow exponentially.

January 2014, the first ever Daniel Dhers Action Sports Complex will be opening in Holly Springs, NC. This complex will be a family oriented facility where riders of all ages and skill levels can enhance their abilities in unity under the care and supervision of a knowledgeable staff. The park, designed and built by Nate Wessel, will be a 37,000 sq. ft. indoor/outdoor riding facility for BMX, Mountain Biking and Skateboarding with 20,000 sq. ft. inside and 17,000 sq. ft. outside.

Please stay tuned for more information regarding the contest, riders meeting, tentative schedule, and hotel accommodations. For any other questions or concerns, please contact me via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/DanielDhersOfficialPage“

Calling the Shots with Daniel Dhers

September 27, 2013

Daniel Dhers is a goofy bastard, haha. In this new episode of Calling The Shots from Network A, Daniel calls out a bunch of tricks and does a little trash talking while he’s at it. If you can’t laugh at this, you probably haven’t been riding very long.

“In this extra salty episode of Calling The Shots, X Games gold medalist and Dew Tour Champ Daniel Dhers takes BMX’s biggest pros to task on this tricks and style by trying to one-up their signature tricks, or even better, straight up calling them out. Jamie Bestwick, Alistair Whitton, Scotty Cranmer, Maddog, Mike Hucker Clark, Alessandro Barbero and even Dave Mirra get called out in this one!” – Network A

Alli Sports caught up with Daniel Dhers for a fresh round of My Five. Daniel talks a little bit about different things like some good advice and languages he speaks along with some dialed riding from the Animal House. Take a peek!

“Daniel Dhers is arguably one of the best BMX riders on the scene right now. Dhers has the tech skills and the ability to go big that make him one of the most entertaining guys to watch. Dhers also happens to be a pretty rad guy who finds inspiration wherever he goes, and loves the advice “At the end its always worth it.” Check out what riders get him amped, and why he loves competing all over the world in this My Five!“

Through The Lens: A Different Perspective #4

July 3, 2013

BMX

As a photographer I am always searching out ways to set myself apart and create content that people will be into. It’s one of the biggest challenges and one of the hardest parts about it to be honest, especially these days when everyone has a camera of some sort with them on a regular basis whether it is a digi-cam or an iphone and life is being documented by the minute. It’s a mix of doing what makes you happy and trying to figure out what will make viewers happy as well. That’s where this new “A different perspective” idea came from. Over the years I have interviewed tons of pro riders about anything and everything except one important topic. What is it like from their perspective to go out and shoot with a photographer? What it is that makes one person better to shoot with than others? I have always wondered about what goes on inside a riders mind before they prepare to shoot a crazy banger and put all of their trust into the photographer. See what Ryan Nyquist, Greg Illingworth, and Daniel Dhers all had to say for the fourth edition of “A different perspective.”
