When you watch as many edits as we do, you get bored with all the usual style spots being put to use. Then a video like this new Joel Barnett video pops up and you get real stoked because he’s getting creative to make spots that most people wouldn’t look at work. This is loaded with creative riding and spots making for an awesome watch. Take a look!
“Following on from his 2014 DIG interview titled, “Nearly There”, Nashville resident and long-time friend of the magazine, Joel Barnett hooked up with film-maker Erik Doty to produce this ten minute gem, honing in on how a simple spot can both focus and inspire the mind and soul. “Riding alone has been a constant thread throughout my life – from my early days as an eager kid in West Auburn, PA, to where I am now in Nashville, TN. The simplicity of pedaling alone allows me to slow down and process the noise of everyday life. In the fall of 2023, Erik Doty and I documented what riding means to me today: brief moments of clarity at temporary spots, often hidden in plain sight. During this time, I rode a Work BMX frame made by John Corts that had a single Circuit BMX sticker on the top tube—an intentional reminder of friends in different places who inspire me to keep creating. You get what you give, so grab a shovel, mod a spot, load some film, and go create something with friends.

A few of Red Bull’s finest hit the streets!
Whenever Red Bull puts together a trip, you know it’s going to be a wild one. They recently loaded Garrett Reynolds, Courage Adams, Bruno Hoffmann, and George Ntavoutian for a trip hitting spots in Norway, Sweden and Finland. You better believe these guys came across plenty of amazing spots and dropped plenty of heavy moves on everything they had the chance to ride.
“It’s been a while since we’ve seen a crew of Red Bull heavy hitters all hit the streets together for one video, but today is our lucky day! When we first got the call about this project, the initial excitement wasn’t just about seeing such a wild group of talent on the road for a week, but also that the planned location was somewhere super refreshing.
The Nordic region often gets overlooked as a BMX road trip destination and it’s mostly for a very good reason – it’s one of the most expensive parts of the world to visit. However, Red Bull had other ideas and decided to treat their crew to some fresh north central European spots, flying Garrett Reynolds, Courage Adams, Bruno Hoffmann, and George Ntavoutian to Oslo, Norway to begin their trip. Stockholm in Sweden and Helsinki, Finland were added to the itinerary as they found more crazy stuff to ride, filming some mind-melters along the way. Mix in the G-Man’s bottomless bag of tricks, George’s wild ability for stunts, Bruno’s technical prowess (along with some BIG moves), and Courage’s world famous balance, and you’ve got yourself something really special. This is ‘From The North’.

The Stash and Serotonin crews go to work in Seoul!
Here’s a fresh video Robin Slootmaker put together from some time he spent in Seoul, South Korea cruising street spots with some of the Serotonin crew. Hit play for 4 minutes of dialed riding from the endless street spots around the area.
““In mid September I flew up to Seoul, South Korea, to visit Lee and the Serotonin boys for a five day marathon of good sessions, eats, beverages, and yapping. After they had visited Taiwan, a visit to Seoul was due. We were all working on projects for the Motobunka Film Festival, but with the deadline close we really count film much more for those projects. So with the motivated crew, amazing spots on deck, and the stoke high we managed to film more than we expected. Everyone was stoked to get in front or behind a camera to document the time. Initially I was hoping for this to be part of a larger project but the trip ended up standing alone. The city, the people, the vibes, and the whole trip overall was peak BMX for me. Especially being able to further connect the Taiwan and South Korean scenes as we continue to try and shine a light on the Asian BMX scene overall.” – Robin Slootmaker

Justin Schwanke is back with a fresh edit!
Whenever we see Justin Schwanke‘s name pop up on a new edit, we know it’s going to be packed with creative and unique riding, putting all sorts of unique spots to good use. This time around he goes to work on random spots around his hometown. These might not be big city spots, but he definitely made the best out of what he did come across. Take a look!
“As much as rural Alberta is my homeland, it doesn’t really feel like home. It’s where I grew up and where I’ve spent most of my life—a place with both its charms and its challenges. I often wrestle with a desire to leave, and in 2017, I did. I moved to Edmonton, then Abbotsford, British Columbia, and even Albuquerque, New Mexico for a short time. Yet, in the spring of 2023, life brought me back to this familiar place. While I still see my time here as temporary, this video project, Township Tour is a tribute to my homeland. Perhaps one day, I’ll create a video that reflects my permanent home. Until then, I’ll be spot hunting, riding, filming, and editing wherever life takes me.” – Justin Schwanke
