Spotted this gem over on Flat Matters and was really stoked on it. Although this doesn’t have any BMX in it, it does feature flatland rider, Brian Chapman, showing you what he does for a living when he’s not riding a BMX bike. We definitely don’t see as much of this kind of quality as we used to.

The bikes that I make under my name are intended to push the limits of my craftsmanship and my vision of the true integrated bicycle. I’m trying to take my work to new levels where I can explore new technologies while still adhering to a classic aesthetic. I try to get to this new level by seeing the bike as a whole before making the first file stroke. With that mental image, I can then start the design and pay attention to the details during the build. I love the details. The details show that care, thought, and consideration went into every aspect of the frame and its components.
I am focusing on mostly commuter and light touring bikes right now. Riding along the back roads of Rhode Island and socializing with my friends is the essence of cycling to me. The bike is the vehicle that gets me to that feeling and it’s the thing I don’t want to be concerned about when I’m bombing down a bumpy old road. But it’s also the thing I will look at and appreciate when it comes time to take a break.” — Brian Chapman
Here’s a rad one we spotted on Flat Matters from the Flatark contest that went down in Japan this past weekend! This is just the short highlights with a look at some of the riding and good vibes from the event. I’d imagine we’ll be seeing plenty more footage from this one here soon!
This is amazing! We just spotted Michael Sommer’s new edit over on Flat Matters and it was way more than we expected! They built up a bike and with all the sounds that go along with doing that, they made a beat which went along with the riding in the end. Not only is the riding amazing, but the film work is dialed and the music came out so good. Check it then check out more of Michael’s work under his musician’s alias Sonny Blake. This is truly the sound of BMX!
“We had the idea to make a video of putting together a bmx bike and making the music for the video only from the original sounds we recorded during the video shooting.
The sounds have then been processed and manipulated with different fx and tools like reverbs, resonators, delays and many more to achieve tonal and rhythmic parts for the final soundtrack.
The task was to NOT use any other samples, sound generating sources, synthesizers, drum machines or whatsoever.

SONNY BLAKE will release an EP with 6 tracks and 2 remixes on Tiefparterre Records in december 2014.

Can’t go wrong with some fresh Scott Powell footage! Check out this new one we spotted on Flat Matters from some of the summer sessions his house’s security camera setup caught! That’s what I call putting it to good use!
“During the summer sessions I captured over 100 tricks and combos with my camera system. Here are a few of the clips that I thought was worth a second look…
filmed July 2014-Sept 2014”
Just spotted this new Dez Maaarsen edit over on Flat Matters! Check out some amazing riding from some sessions that went down earlier this year that never made it online until now! Damn good.
