Well, well, well. It looks like it has finally been announced as to where Kevin Peraza has decided to go after parting ways with Total BMX a few weeks back. Kevin is now doing it for the Mongoose pro team! Check out the official press release below.
“Mongoose Signs BMXer Kevin Peraza to Pro Team
Madison, Wisc. – May 23, 2013 – Mongoose is thrilled to announce BMXer Kevin Peraza as the newest member of the Mongoose professional team. The young athlete’s technical tricks and effortless style have helped establish him as a top competitor in all disciplines of BMX. Peraza will be joining a world-class team of BMX riders representing Mongoose, including Steve McCann, Ben Wallace, Cam White, Jack Fahey, Paul Ryan and Greg Illingworth.
“I’m super excited to be riding for a brand with such deep rooted heritage in BMX,” says
Peraza.
“My dad rode, and still rides, BMX and growing up as kid Mongoose was there from the
start. I’m excited to ride for a brand that has played such a huge a part in BMX history.”
This year, Peraza blew away the competition at Simple Session Estonia, landing the first ever 540 opposite double downside whip. Ever since, all eyes have been fixed on the young star as he prepares for major contests across the globe including the 2013 Redbull Dirt Conquers and the 2013 Dew Tour Beach Championships. Peraza recently took third place in spine and park at Fise Montpellier.
“Kevin is an amazingly talented rider with a great attitude,” says Dave Duecker, Global Brand Director, Mongoose.
“He always looks like he is having fun on his bike and his passion for BMX shows through in every aspect of his riding. We know Kevin has an amazing future ahead of him and we look forward to helping him achieve his dreams.”
Hailing from Tucson, Ariz., Peraza was born into a Spanish speaking family with BMX in their blood. At 3 years old, he began riding his bike alongside his brother David. He got an early start racing BMX at the age of 5 and at 10 he transitioned into freestyle events. By 13 he had begun competing at a professional level. At 19 years old, Peraza has become one of the best BMX riders in the world.“

Total BMX let it be known that today they have released Kevin Peraza from his contract early to pursue other sponsorship opportunities. Here is the full statement:
“It is with great regret that we announce that Kevin Peraza will be leaving Total BMX as of now for pastures new, Kevin was on a contract until the end of 2013 but we agreed to release him.
Kevin has been the subject of multiple offers from other Bike Companies in recent times and this has only increased since winning Simple Session 13.
I felt I could not stand in Kevins way as his future is very important to us as Kevin is not only a rider here at Total BMX he is part of the family and we care about him no end. Our riders welfare comes before business.
I would mention right now that Kevin has been such a loyal guy all his time at Total, as are all of our team riders who ride for Total because they believe in what we are doing here and just love being part of such a talented team and family.
I would like to to thank Kevin for all his support and all those smiles he has given us and all of those magic BMX moments, I wish him all the best and we will remain good friends and I will always be his Uncle Remo ha.
Total BMX will continue our strategy of finding our own young talented riders and supporting them and the scene as we have always done, I guess at the end of the day we are a Rider run and owned Brand and we cannot compete when the big Corporations come along.
The Total BMX team now looks like this with the recent edition of 12 year old Troy Hayward, we are still strong and are very proud of what we think is an amazing bunch of riders-
UK- Mark Webb, Alex Coleborn, Jack Watts, Troy Hayward (18” Rider)
USA- Daniel Sandoval
Australia- Kyle Baldock, Todd Meyn, Chance Brejnakowski, Andrew Ahumada
Germany- Paul Tholen
Hungary- Konrad Szabo”
