Red Bull – Makin’ It: Episode 2 – Stay Strong Compound

Part two of Jaden Leeming’s trip to California for Red Bull‘s Makin’ It series takes us to Riverside for some cement and dirt! Hit that play button and take it all in!

“Jaden Leeming continues his adventures in California with a trip to Riverside, California, to hit the 65th St skate park – an eight foot concrete behemoth which boasts one of the biggest spines in California. Kris Fox is on hand and shows Jaden some local knowledge by pulling in some huge airs and impressive transfers.

Next, Jaden and Kris make their way to the Stay Strong compound, home to legendary BMX dirt jumper and former X Games and Gravity Games gold medallist Stephen Murray.

Stephen, who is now paralysed from his shoulders down following a spinal injury sustained while competing on the Dew Action Sports Tour in 2007, has his own organisation and clothing company, Stay Strong, which helps other action sports athletes who have similar injuries.

Stephen has also built a dirt jump paradise in his back yard, and on this afternoon, Jaden kicks back with Stephen while enjoying a session on the jumps with fellow NZ rider Paul Langlands as well as Anthony Napolitan, Kris Fox and Nick Cooper.”

Red Bull – Makin’ It: BMX Riding in Southern California

Looks like we have another series from Red Bull to get sucked into! This time around they follow their connect in New Zealand getting a look at just what all the hype is about with the California spots! Check it out!

“Red Bull Makin’ It follows Jaden Leeming as he embarks on a trip of a lifetime, leaving Auckland, New Zealand, flying to Los Angeles, California to meet up with old friends and BMX riders, exploring the coast of Southern California for the best BMX spots around town.

In this episode, Jaden and the team join up with Anthony Napolitan and SE Bikes shredder KRIS Fox, hitting up Brookhurst Skatepark, an open cement park chalked full of flowy hips and bowls. After that, they dodge the heat with a cooler session on the boardwalks of Huntington Beach and a twilight dirt jump jam on the Bolsa Chica trails.”

Monster – Speed & Style 2014

Although the Texas Toast Jam was going on last weekend, there were still a few other big events going on like the Monster Speed & Style contest in Las Vegas! They basically took a traditional dirt course, doubled it so two riders can go head to head to throw down tricks, make it through the fastest and pull away the win with the best overall score! Check out highlights in the video above! It looks like a few guys bounced around between Las Vegas and Austin this past weekend…

“Paying a bit of homage to the Supercross event going on as the mainstay, Monster Energy threw a completely unique event that combined racing with dirt jumping on a switchable course. Two paths, two riders, two runs, and the lowest combined score counts. Yup, each rider could choose his destiny, going for speed or tricks and the scoring system laid out for the judges would make the call.

Done in a bracket style with 12 riders: round 1, round 2, semi-finals, finals…you only really have to look at the results to appreciate how diverse this event can really be.” – Ride BMX

SE – Kris Fox & Larry Edgar at the Van Doren Invitational

SE Bikes dropped this new video featuring Kris Fox and Larry Edgar absolutely DESTROYING the bowl at the Van Doren Invitational! They sent filmer, Dylan Pfohl, in to document it all and he came through with this video you won’t want to miss! Check it!

“The Van Doren Invitational bowl contest at the Vans US Open in Huntington Beach, CA was off the hook! SE’s Kris Fox and Larry Edgar absolutely killed it. Neither rider were invited to this contest last year, but this year they let their presence be known! Both riders hyped up the crowd and judges by carving the bowls at scary fast speeds and blasting crazy heights. Forty of the world’s best BMXers competed in this contest. When it came down to the finals, Kris placed 6th and Larry 10th. Check out this rad edit that follows them through practice, to qualifying, and all the way through to the super charged finals. Brace yourself for some wild speed and crazy height!

Product: SE Bikes – 2015 Gaudium Frame

Kris Fox’s signature Gaudium frame from SE Bikes is out now. This frame has a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.5″ bottom bracket height and a 13.7″ chain stay length. The frame has double-butted top and dow tubes, a heat-treated head tube, bottom bracket and dropout, an integrated seat post clamp and removable brake mounts. The Gaudium frame has a 21″ top tube and a weight of 5 lbs. I wonder if Kris’ style is included in this somewhere?
