Skatepark of Tampa: Summer of 2014

There are two reasons why this video Matt Coplon put together from the Skatepark of Tampa. The first being that there is a ton of real solid footage in this making for a great watch and two being that Matt announced they will be doing the annual SPoT Roast Jam again! Details below!

“From 1991 to 1992, there was a vert ramp jammed in a tiny warehouse in Avon Park (across the street from Tampa Stadium). This was the beginning of Tampa as Vert skating capital of the US. I was 15, and with a group of other riders my age, we’d get our parents to drop us off every Saturday night.
None of us knew how to ride vert, but we’d carve that monster ramp late into the night. It never got old.
Beyond that, all those vert skaters were real cool to us, always down to let us session: Brian Schaefer, Paul Zitzer, Mike Frazier, etc…
A year later, Skatepark of Tampa opened (1993). And from the get go, Schaefer and crew were 100% down with bmx. We’d ride by day, and by night, SPoT would serve as venue for some of the best hardcore/punk shows in the history of this city.
Now, 21 years later, they’re still completely behind us. This coming year will be the 5th annual SPoT Roast. In between, at some point, we’ll be throwing another bowl jam.
Hours are below…Thanks again to SPoT and Brian Schaefer for years of support.
Stoked to have this historic park in our city.
Here’s a mix I put together of some of the locals who always make the sessions dialed.

Zach Rogers Interview

Growing up, you tend to see the world as a kid that has the time and energy to hang out and ride all day with these older people all around that work without really noticing the people in that transitional period from all the time in the world to not enough time. When you start getting older and working becomes a necessity, you find yourself in that transitional period where you are doing as much as possible to juggle work, school, riding and everything that comes along with this whole “life” thing. One person who clearly knows how to handle this balancing act like a champion is Zach Rogers. Between finishing up school, crushing some intense licensing tests, traveling Europe, riding, filming and a ton of life, he was able to find some time to take on a bunch of questions about everything going on with him lately. Let’s see what he had to say!

Athens, GA 2014

Phil Jones made his way to Athens, Georgia for the Twighlight Jam the other weekend. While he was there, he filmed this video featuring guys like Dillon and Shane Leeper, Zach Rogers, Matt Coplon, Scootie, Kent Pearson, Eric Stewart, Dre Tylee and more getting down on some of the street spots they rode! Looks like it was a damn good time to me!
