Flash Back Friday – Front Brake Magic

November 15, 2013

Over the course of the past few weeks, we’ve seen a couple really mind blowing videos from a few of the guys who are absolute animals when it comes to the front brake game these days. Obviously, in the past years brakes have really become obsolete for a good number of riders, which I mean is fine, but I almost feel like it’s almost becoming some sort of a lost art. There are so many tricks that just aren’t possible without brakes or even front brakes for that matter that kick so much ass. It’s always refreshing to see people doing things different and killing it like it was done back in the day.
Watching all of these new videos with all of this front brake magic got me thinking about not only how bad I want to get some on my bike, but a few of the guys I grew up watching who all ran front brakes. I decided since it’s a “Flashback Friday” that it would be a good time to pull out a few of these new videos and then dig in a little bit for some videos spanning the past decade or so front some of the legends of the front brake game so to speak. Let’s take a peek…

Devon’s name is one of those names that there’s a good chance you have seen. Between the handful of times we’ve featured his work here on the site, like the October Photogallery, to having a ton of his photos featured between a bunch of the different websites, magazines and brands. Over the years, Devon has spent a lot of time bouncing around the country, traveling, shooting photos and working jobs to make the ends meet so he can keep doing his thing!
We’ve featured a lot of photographers over the years and I think everyone has a good story about what it takes to make it in this industry that can be tough to make a living out of. It is definitely well over due that we caught up with Devon to find out how he got into shooting photos and just what it takes to keep living the dream! Let’s see what he had to say along with a sample of his favorite photos!

Through The Lens: 25 Questions with Kevin Kiraly

November 13, 2013

TTL_91_opener-1_600x

Kevin Kiraly is one of the few pro riders out there these days that are pushing BMX in a positive direction and actually offering something unique as a rider. His technical skills on a bike come from years and years of dedication to what he does. He is one of the pickiest riders I know when it comes to spots, filming, and shooting photos but when you realize it’s because he wants to make everything look perfect it all makes sense. Kevin is a visual rider and knows what tricks should look like when they are done the right way so it’s all about finding the best trick for that specific spot which obviously could take a while. Kevin actually put out a part and won The Hunt video contest last week and came down to the premiere to celebrate and hang out so it was a perfect opportunity to catch up and find out what he’s been up to and what he has going on for the rest of this year. Enjoy.
